A vigil

Postby anti-paragon on Sat May 21, 2016 12:07 pm

It's been a long time since anything was posted here.
While I feel I have no right, as more of a caretaker than an owner, I feel like someone should put this forum to a peaceful rest.

It served a lot of us well in terms of interaction, creativity, and for a lot of us, something much more.

I hope all of those who frequented here found some piece of what you were looking for and took it with you when you left.

I wish you all the best out there and hope you still find the time to let some of your creativity flow.

As for myself, I'm always around in some way or another. Maybe we'll chat sometime if you like.

Goodbye, Mayhem. You were worth the time.

*lights a candle for Mayhem*

Indeed. Mayhem was a place for me, a place where I could hang out with like-minded crazy people, and not be judged or considered "weird" for playing some offbeat characters.

The new (rebooted, and now 100% troll-free) EGS forum on 910CMX is showing some promise, both for roleplaying and general hanging out, with a small but slowly growing Games area. ProfessorTomoe has started a new incarnation of the Waffle House there, and there's a Last Post Wins thread that is showing some promise.

It's not quite Mayhem, but it definitely shows promise.

Come see for yourself.

Sadly, yes. Apparently the server literally crashed (as in, it physically fell over and was damaged.)

On a more positive note, the new CMX forums are looking a lot better...

This one's for all the memories. That I still keep coming back looking for, from time to time.

Mayhem will always have a special place in my heart. The friends I made here, the games we played- so much of it has lasted the test of years. When mayhem split up around 2011/2012 I went off with the Classmates/Magical School RP crew, and it's a game that started here and is still being played to this day, like 14 years later.

If anyone wants to keep in touch I'm @sleepyorigami on twitter.

So... a twitter thread made me nostalgic, so I came over here to say hi. And to also say that there is now an EGS Mayhem discord group. If anyone wants to join:

*silently adds candle*

Few things on the internet are forever. It's a wonder I found this and can even post here right now. But let it stand, a monument that reinvigorates the memories of all those who wander in by accident. I'm glad it did so for me.

*Adds a candle burning in the bottle*

Another year another poke. I fell off the forums during the migration but am drawn to walk through the dusty remnants of a place that I still remember fondly, that i have to thank for the roleplaying group i meet here and continue to play with. Sleep well Mayhem and once more farewell.
