Web Help - Tabbed Navigation

Postby Jamie on Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:48 pm

I want to implement a nabbed navigation system on my page. What's the easiest way to do that? I have Dreamweaver 8, but don't know much beyond simple html.

Thanks,

Jamie

Could you describe exactly what you mean by tabbed navigation, Jamie? There are a few ways to go about it, and some would be easier to implement than others.

Sorry. I made the same mistake in the Keen forums. Like Amazon's http://www.amazon.com/ or PvP's http://www.pvponline.com/.

Thanks!

You could try going to those pages and then selecting View Source (usually under View on most browsers)?

I just had a look at Amazon (UK) and all they've done is create a table with no gaps between cells and the contents are links to graphics files.

Well, with the right imagery all lining up, all you'd really need is a list that's been styled properly in CSS, and the background images do the work of presenting a tab-like interface. That's why I asked.

The best way would be to use an unordered list and style that with CSS using the "sliding doors" technique. Have a look at this article: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/slidingdoors2/

Thanks, crismo. I actually read that article a few days back. :)

Thanks to everyone who offered advice. I appreciate it.

But that doesn't degrade gracefully. An unordered list is vertical:
