A few weeks ago I declared on this forum that come Jan 1 2002, the contest at large was over, and was now a sudden death affair between the handful of people who had one point.
But if the UNTIMELY death of Dave Thomas were to count, then John Little would become the winner, with 3 points.
But in that case, I wouldn't know how to contact him, as I think I got disgusted and threw all the emails away of those who'd joined.
So, Lord Emsworth if you're out there... what's your call?
------------------

I just heard that Dave Thomas is dead. Check to see if someone had it on the pool and if it will boost them to the lead so that we can have a winner.
[This message has been edited by Highlander (edited 01-08-2002).]

Um... John Little is My roomate (he did the art for the Delerium Tremens MDA telethon bit). He can resend you his email or whatever you need to verify if he is in fact the winner. or you could get it from me or possibly Burke as well.
damnable thing.

Hmmm... Due to neglecting forums for a few days, didn't see this thread at first, but have tried to mull over the issue during the weekend.
The most obvious fact about Mr. Little's possible claim is that this was for the DeadPool 2001, and the actual departure took place in 2002. And as you say, M. Herold, you'd already announced that the game had gone into "sudden death" mode, so presumably only those who already had points should be able to carry over their remaining picks.
However, as it stood prior to this week, it seemed unlikely that there would *be* a winner before 2003 rolled around! So, while I'll probably regret this if I see Dame Wendy Hiller's obit in next week's El Paso Times, I suppose it's up to you, M. Herold, if you want to go ahead and give Mr. Little the prize and put an end to the whole thing.
(Though expect a mildly caustic e-mail should you decide in his favour and Dame Wendy does pass on in the very near future!)

Sincere thanks for your help, Lord Emsworth. At the risk of arousing your ire, I do believe I'll just award the championship to Mr. Little and remove this bothersome tick of a "contest" from my gluteus max.
nd, my good fellow, if you'd be so kind as to arrange for me to get Mr. Little's address, I'll get him a t-shirt within a suitably reasonable amount of time.
Lord Emsworth, should Dame Wendy expire soon, I'm sure a little something could be arranged for you as well. :-D
Thus endeth the accursed 'Ghoul Pool'. May it rest in peace.
------------------
