What is Life?
What is Murder?
If murder is the intentional taking of a life,
and a robot has life,
then you can murder a robot.
Does a robot have life?
Is life the beating of a heart, the expansion and contraction of lungs, the ability to make conscious decisions?
Is life the existence of a creature that has a soul?
Could a robot ever have a soul?
Does AccordionDad wish he paid attention in Theology 101?
Does Johnski have a good putting game?
Is there life after a double-bogey?
Does Aretha Franklin have soul?
Will Matt do a strip on this stuff?

I was teachers' pet! Anyway, to deal with your easier questions first:
Yes, a robot can have life. However, life by definition requires the potential for death. Therefore, the robot must accept mortality to have life. Your homework reading here is Asimov's Bicentennial Man.
Robots got soul? By acknowledging mortality is a small price to pay for a place in something greater, the robot does indeed have a soul. Reference the same reading.
Johnski's putting game: he taught me everything I know, and I stink.
Your Aretha question does not deserve a reply. Like asking if Miles knew cool.
Matt: your reply is pencilled in next...
------------------

Hey all,
Wow I've sparked a philosophical discussion! Cool.
Anyway, Dolphin, if you check out www.for-evan.com you should be able to get where you wanna go.
As for me, I'm still stewing this question over. But here's an interesting note: In the movie, supposedly in the future, The Pope has declared androids living, soul-bearing beings.
Interesting.

------------------

Sorry to not be Matt but...
I've lost the links to the competition that he was talking about yesterday. Sure I can log into the aimovie.com website but there is no competition link there.
Can anyone refresh my memory as to what is going on?

A psychologist was playing golf with a philospher.
The philosopher was having a tough day on the links, so he tried to un-nerve the psychologist with the tricks of the trade.
"Have you figured out yet why you play golf? Why you use the clubs that you use? Why you swing at the ball the way you do?"
Replied the psychologist, "I may have to figure out why I swing atthe ball the way I do, but at least I don't have to figure out if it really exists!"

OK. But now what I'm wondering is: What would you charge Tucker with in this recent series of strips? Pawmulling a puppy? Cruelty to puny pets? Assault with a contangious foot ailment?
------------------
