I've played pool for years, but I've never heard of "Slop Shots."
What are they? :-?

If my interpretation is right, I think another name for them is "fluke"

Slop shots, garbage shots, crap shots, and worse are all terms I've heard. They refer to the rule that you get to keep playing when you accidentally get one of your balls in a pocket, even if it wasn't the one you were aiming for.

I like to play that way. Some people like the strictness of having to precisely call every shot. My family just likes to play with a little luck. It's a friendlier game that way.

"Slop" is what happens when you don't make the shot you were aiming for, but you still sink a ball in a pocket. Generally, when you sink a ball, you keep playing. Some games are more strict about the presence or absence of slop than others.

Even after the grace, I will never relinquish my slop shots! :x

Seriously, i can make all sorts of cool trick shots.... but only if I'm not trying to.

I've seen various rules:

1) Don't need to call shots.
2) If you sink a ball you did not call, it stays in, but it doesn't get you the extra turn.
3) If you sink a ball you did not call, or sink a ball in the wrong pocket, it comes back out and you don't get the extra turn.

In my experience, "playing with slop" refers to version 2.
