So what do you think about Maddog's Appearance Count Page?

It's not MAD science...just disappointed.

So what do you think about Maddog's Appearance Count Page?

Postby Gav on Thu Sep 26, 2002 4:16 pm

Pretty cool, huh? This Maddog guy made something quite useful, I think. I made the suggestion of the links to all the strips each character appears in, and he implemented it extremely quickly (that's what happens when the network connection at work goes down). I want to highly encourage nifty new Nukees features that I don't have to program and maintain. :D

Any ideas for improvements? Keep in mind that this is just kind of a "Beta" version and I'm sure he's going to be putting more detailed comments and descriptions and stuff later.

Also, he does a Schlock Mercenary page as well, and he tallies up the number of Kills each character has there. I think a Nukees-appropriate column would be cool, too, but I can't think of something to count up on a per-character basis at Nukees. What do you guys think?

If you missed the news item, I'm talking about the Maddog's Nukees Appearance Count Page.

Fun! I've see these before: there's also a CRFH one and an Avalon one, at least. Oh, and sluggy.net has a very in-depth Sluggy Freelance character appearance stat page.

Yeah, Maddog does the CRFH one, too, in addition to Schlock's. And of course I know of the Sluggy Freelance page because Gav is on it! :P

Uh , actually , the Sluggy page has a minimum appearance cut off of five , and Gav has shown up on Sluggy in four strips , if I recall correctly...

The Nukees one is pretty cool, but he left Petey out of the Schlock Mercenary count.

How about times each character was actually seen in class?

Ah yes, of course. I am confuzzled. I think Gav used to be on the page, but then the cut-off was increased to 5. Or, I'm just freebasing tender vittles again. There's a link to me in the Sluggy Story Guide, which shows up in my referrers all the time, and I somehow retrofitted my memory to think it was the Appearance Count page, which I now remember I'm supremely bitter about for missing the cut-off when others from that cross-over just made it.

Well, that tears it. Gav will just have to worm his way into Sluggy 1-2 more times in the future.

That reminds me, has Pete put up the Comic Con 2002 report yet? I can see from my referrer logs that the pages are up and being accessed, but I never saw a link to it. There's a funny bit that pokes fun of me (with good reason) but I don't want to link to it until I know the pages have been officially released.

Hm... Not a bad idea. Bound to be quite low for everyone, though. I'll mull it over.

I know over at ItsWalky! we keep having character counts, but I'm not sure if we've got a working list. Got a neat search engine, though.

It's up, and I'm feeling *really* bad I didn't randomly stop by Flake's that night. Pete was in my hometown and I *missed* it! Argh.

Your husband seems to be, too. I kinda like this "Users browsing this forum" feature... It's so Spooky! He's there, but he's not! So very Clan of the Cats...
