Just thought I'd pop in and say SPOOOOOOON!!!
Liked todays comic, isn't that always true? When a girl is single she won't touch you, but the moment she's dateing a friend of yours and knows she safe from you, she's friendly as a kitten. Anyway, I was wondering, did anyone read my play? If so what did you think? I'd like some feed back from people who DON'T know me, good and bad.
Anyway, I shall be back late to say hello again. Later!
Steve Spoon

Hey Steve,
There was a short thread discussing it earlier (it's an easy enough topic to spot), but it was only about grammatical mistakes. The kicker is that it inspired some Nuclide/CRFH-ohs hybrids to start thinking about a "College Roomies From Hell!!!" play. Anyway, this is a good place to get additional feedback...
Nuclides?
------------------

Cool, I'm amazed that no one thought of the idea of write a play along those lines before, look at all the fan fics people write about Anime. Well, anyway, the request for feedback still exist, so... start feedn'!
------------------

Ah, the play. It seemed to me that it...how to put this so that it will be constructive, not destructive...relied a bit too heavily on the published strips for dialogue and plot devices.

This over-heavy reliance may have been due to pressure of time, it may be in the nature of fanfic (of which I have read almost none), it may be due to the requirements of the <strike>evil</strike> rightfully-concerned Gav that the play not wander too far from what is established about the Nukees. I feel, though, that it's set a little too hard in the mold that Gav has already established, and just transfers the strips to another medium.

Nothing personal, of course; I certainly couldn't do better. I just think that we don't have a strikingly original work here. Creating one may not have been the point of the exercise.
------------------

Your pretty close on most of your asumptings, except Gav made it a point to give me liberty with my work. No, it was largely due to time and the fact that I just couldn't bare to leave a few of those jokes out. The time proboblem was not becouse I slacked off (for once) it was becouse I had not realized that most other people would be writeing scripts of six pages or less. There were maybe two that my script wasn't twice as long as, this may have been part of why it wasn't chosen for performence. also it was largely a fan fic though it wasn't completely supposed to be. In the end I think I may have just been too woried I'd screw something up. Well, I must go, good day.

If I might add--Steve wrote the play not so much as "fanfic" but for playwriting class of people who have never read "Nukees" with the intention of being performed. If the play is ever performed, I think it would be pretty cool actually to see all my jokes on stage. If complete originality is the aim, I would suggest a short story would be more appropriate than a play. I think a good goal of a play is to simply adapt an existing work to another venue... Like the upcoming X-Men movie for instance. If you're an X-Men fan, would you rather the script writers make up their own stuff, or stick as closely to the comic as possible?
So, standing alone, the play might not be overly thrilling for regular Nukees readers, but I think we'd all love to see Steve's play performed, complete with my jokes and his appropriate contributions.
Oh, and if I might repeat a phrase for no reason whatsoever: ...I would suggest a short story....

------------------

Short stoy? I can do short story, it might take me some time to get arround to it but it sounds fun, I'll put that on my list (As if I were organized enough to have an actual list) By that way, yesterday was my birthday, YEA! I tried to post yesterday pertaining to the errors in Dannys speech that day (HE USED A CONTRACTION TWICE!!!) but I was on a school computer and the crazy little cubano lady who runs the lab got all freaked out becouse I was on a message board (I guess she thought I was on E-mail and was gonna download a virus into the computer or something, don't ask me) and kicked me out seconds before I was about to send it. Oh well, she's one this round, but I'll be back...
------------------

Danny has occasionally used a contraction in the past (I doubt if Gavartist is interested in going back over three years of strips to fix all of the minor errors, and I certainly don't want the job, either), but has more often not when it would have sounded more natural to have used one. I daresay that we can explain those occasional lapses away by supposing that Danny has tried to use contractions in the past, but just found the results too funny for words...
------------------

Okay, Gavartist's solution to the inconsistency works for me. Though I have to wonder whether he'd planned for that before
