I New Jersey people pronounce them "Cray-ons"
In California it's pronounced "Cre-ons".
I know this having lived in both states. New Jersey has it correct.
------------------

When I was little I had a box of 64 crayons.I was the only kid in class with 64 and not a little dinky box of 12. One of my favorite colors was Indian Red. A year ago I learned that they had taken off Indian Red because it was "derogatory" but I always thought it was Indian like the country... I mean, yeesh. take that big wax stick out of your asses, crayola people! Let the children color in peace! Peace and Har-Mon-yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

But... but... I've lived in California my whole life (except two years in Spain) and I pronounce it "cray-ons". Does that mean I... secretly have the soul of a New Jerseyan? Nooooo...
Then again, I don't remember ever hearing anyone else in California pronounce it "cre-ons" either. What part of California exactly did you live in? Just wondering.
(The preceding is not intended as a sleight on New Jersey. I have never been to New Jersey and have nothing against it. Well, nothing against it except that some weird guy from New Jersey falsely accuses us Californians of pronouncing crayons "cre-ons". )
------------------
