Why does the date and time change, but no new messages are being displayed in the thread?
In any case, here's my contribution to the Helene-with-wings series:
Angels - Helene and... How did I suddenly become the avapr0n forum guru? Oh well
Anyways, this is caused because editting a post updates the last modified date/time for that thread, but (obviously) editting doesn't add a new post. I personally rely on the post count, but that's kinda hard to do for more than 1 or 2 threads at a time

Actually, the post count isn't even reliable... the "Helène Fans" thread showed 42 posts for a while, yet it only had a single page of postings (ie. no more than 39).
The reason the Gala thread is so messed up is because UBB sucks. :-) More specifically... whenever you add/edit/delete a post, *every* page in that thread is updated (with things such as users' post counts, page links, etc.). So consider that, right now, if you add a post to the Gala thread, 6 HTML pages are modified by UBB.
Now consider just how slow Keenspot's been for the past month or two. It's bad enough loading up *one* page, let alone 6 consecutive pages. So this is why your browser will often time out when you try to add a gala post... it's not done processing each HTML file before your browser gives up. *However*, even though your browser gave up, the processing still continues, and eventually your post shows up in the thread.
Hence, some users will see that their browser timed out, and will try posting again... and some people will do that eight times. ;-) Deleting a post gives a similar result (a timeout), but the post is still deleted. And of course, with all this adding/deleting going on, the thread often bumps back to the top of the forum even though there's no new content.
WHEW. There we go. :-)

Yeah, Josh, but I did that. And then I did it again. After that it said something about flood control, but - my message didn't show up. (The time changed on the main forum page, but the thread didn't change even when I reloaded it, on a different browser, in a different partition, three hours later.)
