In case you can't guess from the above, show this weekend! Same place, time, etc (so University of Waterloo Arts Lecture Hall at 4:30pm Friday and Noon Saturday). Much the same great continuing stuff as the last showing. Stuff like Gatekeepers; Noir; Now and Then, Here and There; Boogiepop Phantom; GTO; Dual; Legend of the Galactic Heroes; Rose of Versailles and Sol Bianca: Legacy. New stuff that started last show included Read or Die and Twelve Cities: The Stories of Twelve Girls.
Might be something cool this show, as last time they showed the Cowboy Beebop movie (Vincent is such a badass). Also should warn that some of the stuff shown is disturbing to some, namely some themes in Now and Then, Here and There, Noir and nearly all of Boogiepop Phantom. It's still all good, though ^_^;;
Sorry I wasn't at the UTARPA meeting two weeks ago, but I wasn't feeling up to it (and I need to find somplace to crash while waiting for the next bus home). When's the next show? Recently saw Laputa and it ruled, the director (I am truly sorry for not remembering his name) is excellent in each of his movies, Nausica is next ^_^. Oh, and has anyone heard of someting called Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu? It's really weird but worth a look.
So respond if you need help, want to comment, tell me to stop posting these, etc.
[This message has been edited by Magus Blastarr (edited 10-31-2001).]

Last meeting CTRL-A brought you it's epic (alright, at the very least it was fun) Anime Karaoke Contest. Featured were such songs as the ending theme for Dragon Half, the opening for Escaflowne and even Trigun's opening on violin (very cool, but unfortunately not eligeable for a prize). This meeting we bring you *drumroll*...
The CTRL-A Masquerade Contest!
Many zany costumes, weird stuff and other insanity (but isn't that at every meeting) ^_^
Gwalla: I saw a subbed version, which was good. Also have Totoro to watch at some point. I love the Resedence Network here ^o^
Fool: Yeah, she's funny. I love how she flips from cute to odd at whim.
Oh, and if anybody can tell me a good place to DL all of Serial Experiments Lain (I got hooked on it simply from the opening song) I would be most greatful. That and DiGi Charat ^.^
[This message has been edited by Magus Blastarr (edited 10-31-2001).]

Hayao Miyazaki.
Laputa does indeed rule. I saw it dubbed a long time ago. Nausicaa is not as good (the old dub, titled "Warriors of the Wind" is considered a travesty, and the video box art is totally misleading--making it look like a Star Wars ripoff (and including what looks like a futuristic soldier riding on a pegasus, which has nothing to do with the contents)--but aside from changing the names around (Nausicaa is "Princess Sandra", the Ohmu are "Gorgons") in an apparent attempt to make it more accessible to Americans, it's really not that different. The manga (one of his few manga, the other is Porco Rosso) on the other hand is brilliant, with a much deeper storyline and more fully realized setting.
------------------

Her first adventures were played out in our newsletter. ^^v He's not really involved anymore, though he'll still make us pictures if we ask nice. (You can still buy our Y2K Emiko T-shirt at our shows!! Only $15! Plug! Plug!). He seems busy at the moment, so I don't really want to bother him.
And yes, Dan (our web master) has some sort of Athena fetish at the moment... ^^;;

Hey was wondering if anyone knew UTARPA's E-Mail. I've tried contacting the e-mails listed on their website but they all seem to return a failure of delivery.
------------------
