Hey all:
I, um, try to not do this sort of thing -- and Josh can run me off the board if I've slightly overstepped my bounds here. But here goes ...
I'm the freelance journalist dude who writes for The Ottawa Citizen's TechWeekly section, and -- rather inadvertantly -- was the force of nature that first exposed Josh to the wonders of the mainstream media. :-) Anyhow, I am on the prowl for technology-related stories (and bonus points will be awarded if there's an Ottawa angle) since A) the section is running a little low on stuff in the can and B) I could use the money. :-) And I could ever! (Slow summer, y'all.)
So -- any trends out there in Internetland worth noting? Anyone making robots that will level cities in their backyard? Is there something/anything out there in techland -- even in this dot-bomb environment -- that's just plain cool and worth writing about, and that has either been *under-reported* or ignored by the mainstream press?
Let me know. You can contact me at zhoule@magma.ca if you have anything to toss at me. And feel free to toss stuff: I may say no or that's unfeasible, but I do take a good look at anything that crosses my desk. Unless it's spam or a virus. Please, after SirCam, do not send one of those my way. :-)
You can return to your regular programming now. Sorry for the intrusion.
Yours truly,
Zachary Houle

You can write about how the "CHOP" phenominon has overshadowed "All Your Base" as the most annoying meme on the Internet!!
(Read as: Good luck, Zachary. ;-) )
And I hope I thanked you enough for that last Avalon article... that was a fun ride while it lasted. :-) I'll have to send an Avalon book your way as soon as I get some.
JOSH.
------------------

Not that I'm trying to influence the news here, but if there's anyone out there dropping computers out their windows and turning to Ludittism in the light of the whole downturn -- do let me know. :-) I figure if there's another stupid Internet fad, that one's going to be it with the way things are going.
Stroking his Maneki Neko for karma,

Head on over to the Baen Books website at www.baen.com and do an article on the only publisher who has made any profit on the entire e-book idea. I recommend you get intouch with Jim Baen, Arnold Bailey and Eric Flint, who pioneered Baen's Webscription and Free Library. FYI Baen is the largest privately owned publisher of mass-market books, and the premier publisher of Science Fiction and Fantasy in North America. The authors he has published in E-Book format include such SF and Fantasy heavy hitters as David Drake, David Weber and Mercedes Lackey.
------------------

If it wasn't for that Avalon post a while back, I would never have seen CHOP, unless it was in Framed! and I forgot. ... It must have been though.
