I'm pretty sure I have never been seen together with anybody else on this forum. Does that make me the same person as everybody else?
------------------

The important thing is how stupid Ceilidh is being and how stupid Joe has been! We may just end up seeing the shortest relationship ever, and that would suck multiple ass!

Ok, assuming this can't end with Ceilidh swirling on a grassy hill top like Julie Andrews...
But probably won't attempt suicide (since that's a touch heavy and won't be fruitful).
Here's another proposal. If Avalon bites down on a topic, what if Ceilidh ends up alone tonight, and wanders downstairs while the rain plays off the roof, yada yada...
...and find a bottle of Scotch.
Come next semester, what if she ends up having a little secret problem?

Thats awful man, shame on you for thinking such a thing. I admit I am somewhat of a pessimist when it comes to this particular comic but that is going a bit too far!

Or what if she goes out to the local Tim Hortons (or other popular youth hang out) and throws herself at another guy? Since she is feeling so needy for someone to like her, she may do questionable things to find someone. Someone who doesnt care for her at all.

Alright, I'm finally back from my first day of classs and just spent over $400 on books. Yay! Ok, about my earlier comment, I just don't believe that Josh will be killing anyone, despite periodic comments otherwise. I just want to say Josh agrees with me.

Despite the developing drama and the twistiness of the plotlines in the comic, Avalon just isn't that morbid.
[This message has been edited by Wildmartin (edited 08-20-2001).]

JOSH.

but some writers have made the statement that a good story will take a life of it's own, heedless of the ends that the author has put foreward. The story may have a dramtially different twist than what Josh might have been intending.
Not that I'm saying that Josh would be that morbid (from what I've seen on IRC, that's not his disposition), nor am I encourageing it, but it is something to consider.
------------------

Besides, C was the first person we see in the first strip, she's the protagonist, and the protaginist rarely dies, much less dies this far away from the ending of the story.
------------------

Just because she was (supposedly) the main character at first does not mean she is invincible. Bad things can happen, and the strip does seem to be getting more mature in outlook and plot as time goes on.
Generally what I'm saying is, "Don't assume anything, for everything is possible." I personally think that the others are right in saying that is not the direction Josh wishes to take the strip. I wouldn't expect him to take that path, but then again there have been a few things that I didn't expect.
Besides, you are all making it seem that Joe cares enough about Ceilidh to tell her he is not really in love with her, but wouldn't realize how the words would hurt her. I'd think one would go hand-in-hand with the other, and while Joe wouldn't take advantage of her he would stay and make sure she was alright before leaving.

Well the strip IS called Avalon, and not "It's Ceilidh!" but come on, kill the MAIN character? Josh would get swamped with so many death threats it wouldn't be worth the cheap shock value. Yeah, I know "Don't assume anything" but I think we all know Josh is smarter than that.
But if I need a second point to make here, it's that I do not see Ceilidh as suicidal. This is only the first instance we have seen such behavior, and I think we would have to see her hit absolute rock bottom before she would even consider such a thing.

------------------

There is no way Ceilidh would do anything like that. (Oh, hey I'm new) Anyways, people with suicidal tendences are usually people that act similer to Pheobe. Withdrawen, they utter words like, I might not be around for a while, or they say goodbye alot. But I'm no expert, I've only been through one suicide it was a friend of mine, and he did not act like a normal suicidal person would.
But the whole Ceilidh trying to kill herself thing, I don't see it happening. She is Basicially the main character so, it wouldn't be a good Idea anyways. The way I see it, Joe is going to be honest and Ceilidh will either accecpt it or be very hurt. We'll know tomorrow or at least be closer to knowing. Hopefully, I am getting all figity waiting.

Very carefully-phrased, Josh. So what you're saying is that the suicide attempt will fail and she'll be hospitalized, or possibly even comatose for the rest of the strip?
