I'd say the real idiot is whoever allowed that sort of HTML on these forums in the first place. I'm absolutely shocked that a forum this popular hasn't fixed HTML abuse problems yet!
Although yes, I do agree that he's a jerk

Yep, looks like this call for a good ole fashioned Marshall County lynching, not an Avalon style lynching. Can get the ropes, tree, and mule team ready in about a day. And I'm sure an 'impartial' jury trial can be arranged.
SEM Critter (Sentence first, trial and verdict later.)

HTML abuse indeed, he slandered the good name of HTML. :P My Lord, did you see what he put in there? Extra body tags and html tags... *shudder* ugh, it was attrocious. I felt bad for my poor browser, and I'm not predisposed to feel for anything spawned by MS.
However, that's the first time I've seen such abuse of HTML on any UBB system (though I admit my experience is limited). Personally, I am happy any time I happen acorss a message board that allows HTML. I use it quite often, and I appriciate the added control it gives me over my posts.
I can't say what's best for the board in general, but I just thought I'd put in my personal experience for what it's worth.
Peace,

thanks for the info guys. being the non html literate girl that i am, i'm surprised he could do so much to the thread. it must have been shocking and annoying...especially if it messed with the loading time.
sometimes i think people spend too much time trying to give themselves airs and look cool. Being cool is much better than looking cool. And quality people will see the coolness even if you do look everyday. It's so disappointing when people try too hard. not to mention annoying.

well, Kaoru, I don't know much, but what I do, i'll tell you. seems this newbie Julio Patrechi started a hey i'm a newbie thread. I saw it, but didn't read it at the time. seems that he started annoying the crap out of everyone by asking them to go to his links or some such other. hopefully the rest of the guys will fill in this part. Anyway it seems his thread got deleted, or at least, i can't find it, but seems he's still a member of the board.
that's all i got, hope it helped. and i'm curious as to the full story too. *large hint here*
Harlenna

The problem is that the Keenspot boards allow HTML at all. Practically every other popular UBB board I've been on has disabled it or severely limited it, because there's just so much annoying stuff one can do with HTML. (Fortunately, very little truely harmful stuff can be done.) This is especailly common on boards that get a lot of new users at fairly frequent intervals.
------------------

He posted in one of the ongoing threads with a bunch of HTML in his post, which changed the background to a flashing animated GIF, added large graphics, large text, animated wingding-font marquees, JavaScript junk, and just generally broke the formatting. It was a mess.
He also did the exact same thing on a couple of Elf Life threads too. When people complained, his reply was something on the order of "I was bored. That's the least I can do. Don't piss me off."
He wasn't trying to get people to follow links. He was just an ass who decided to vandalize the forum for kicks.
------------------

Sounds like just another fsck-ing skript k1dd13 with too much time on their hands.
I'm rather surprised the UBB code doesn't exercise more restrictions on what HTML it allows, though. Most webforums I've seen only permit basic formatting tags - a few even disallow tags. Most also don't permit any CSS or Javascript.
------------------

That's why the plans for KBB only involve extentions to UBBCode to fill in the extra HTML functionality, but HTML won't be allowed in posts (actually, it will simply convert all > and < to > and < respectively).
------------------

I don't really need one, SEM Critter, but if you want to build one and use it for a deer stand, that's fine.
