I just thought I'd ask if anyone would want to play Diablo II, specifically the new expansion pack.
I just got it the other day, and I really like the changes Blizzard has done (I haven't played Diablo II since the 1.03 patch).
If so I'm mostly interested in playing with lower levels. I just started an assasin (lvl 17) and she's pretty spiffy with a kick ass rogue follower who freezes people.
Anywho, if you want to party up one day, let me know.
Quattro

------------------

I play, but rarely online. My connection isn't really good, and I'm usually not too keen on the people I meet there... and the people I am keen to meet, we generally have problems coordinating. So usually I play single or LAN (where we can coordinate by yelling across the room ).
In addition, I can't get into Act 3 until I get more RAM... at current, it runs like a slideshow if I move from the docks
But yes... the Assassin is tr

I play D2, my realm character is a low-level sorceress. My account name is WildMartin. If people would like to use their solo char. we could always play a game using our IP addresses to connect, whoever has the best connection/fastest computer would host. I don't have the expansion yet though. An Avalon Clan, yes, yes indeed!
[This message has been edited by Wildmartin (edited 07-12-2001).]

Sage, Junkie, and Veteran of Diablo II myself. Highest charecter is a level 68 Blessed Hammer / Concentrate paladin. I have about 10 Stones of Jordan, and a few items even better Haven't played the expansion online yet, since I wanted to have some fun exploring it
As for the double claw attack, charges only apply to the first attack Same with the kick attack, only the first of the kicks releases charges.
Claw/Shield is the true path!

I also play, but mostly via LAN. I do have one Realm character (Amazon), but she's pretty low level...(I'd be surprised if she's as high as level 6) - nowhere near high enough to join up with a level 17 Assassin...
Oh, well, if you ever decide to start another character, low enough to run with mine, let me know...
------------------

stupid me. I forgot you have to 'create' an online character. That level 17 assasin of mine is a solo character.
So I'll be more than happy to create a new character (possibly a druid to try it out), or I can use my Sorceress. She's about level 8, and I'm pretty sure she's an online character.
As for my main assasin skills of choice, nothing beats using two claws, with the two weapon strike, and doing the charge up skill that has the tiger pic. (tiger strike?) I only have it at level 3 and with three charges she does 420% more damage! me and my friend calculated it out to be about 240-400 damage on that one charged up attack! That's what I call damage! And that includes that between my two weapons, and my charms, I do poisin, cold, fire and lightning damage. Bosses and hard monsters don't stand a chance!
As for traps, I invested a couple points in them. The fire bomb isn't that great, but the lightning web is pretty spiffy. Throw it down in front of you before you attack, and as the monsters walk up to attack you, they'll take the damage. I recently got the fire trap, and it's working wonders in the maggot lair since fire does more damage to them and it has a fairly large range.
Well, that's it from me for now. When I get home I'll check to see which of my characters (I have a few) are realm ones and post another message. Maybe we can have an Avalon clan! Woo!
Quattro

------------------

I suggest that you stop by #avalon (see gwalla's guide to IRC for info on how to) sometime. A goodly number of us are D2 players, and we're split about 5:2 west/east.

Well, from preliminary scouting reports, it looks like you can indeed password an Open game, as well as create a Channel for gathering in. It looks like the server is chosen randomly, though... whether that makes a difference or not is unknown (I ended up on USA-3 most of the time).
I'll try to make it Sunday, probably around noonish... it sounds like fun . But like I said... I'm a bit limited as to where I can go adventuring for the moment. On Bnet I am, of course, known as Dynonychus, and I'll likely be using Regina, a Lvl 22+ Assassin. Or I may just run up a Sorceress or Paladin for the occasion .
------------------

A TCP game would probably be best. That way we know we won't get any dummy's getting in our game. Plus, I think it would be easier to arange a game like that.
Only thing is don't look at me for the fast connection I'm only on 56k.
So, all that's left to do is to pick a day, and see who's available. I myself am not free much this weekend. Perhaps Sunday I'll be free, but I'll have to wait and see.
Quattro

------------------

Hey, Quattro -
Someone more knowledgable than I about Battle.net did mention that you can take your own characters into "open" Battle.net games (as opposed to Realm games), and I discovered that I do also have a level 17 Amazon... If you can password protect open games (I know you can on Realm games), we'll just have to pick a password that we can all use, to keep random people out. The afore-mentioned more knowledgable individual is also interested in playing... Over the weekend, either Arazyr or I will check on that password for open games thing, and I'll let you know how it goes. Let me know if this sounds like a good idea...
------------------

Everyone on Open is effectively on the same "server" - We can all join the same group of games and channels You can indeed password games too.
I can probably have a level 20 ready to go by Sunday

If ya'll get a game together this weekend count me in. I have a level 18 non-Realm Sorceress and a level 20 Necromancer. I'll use whichever character you prefer for the group. Unfortunately, my connection usually maxes out between 28.8 and 33.3 kbs.

Ok, working day will be Sunday for our first Avalon D2 game. It will be an expansion pack game. Sorry to those who don't have the expansion pack yet. If you have a character around level 20 (ie 10-30) that'd be good. It seems most of us have a character around that level anyways.
As for the time, not sure exactly when yet. I'll have a better idea the on Saturday or Sunday morning.
We'll go for an open game on Battle.net, that way people can come and go as they please throughout the whole day. Just to make sure, has anyone determined if you can password protect an open game?
I'm going to use my assassin Aaeria (non realm), and at the moment she's level 18 (could be higher by Sunday).
Ok, so if you're in, let us know, and which character you're using, as well as a suggested time you could come on.
Quattro

------------------

I'll check on the password thing this evening, and post the results (probably around 8:00pm, board time). For the game password (if we can use one on an open game), I suggest we use the name of the MacFarlane family cat. (: I think we can pretty much insure only Avalonians, that way...

We still need a time - I'll keep watching this thread for it... BTW, I suggest we name the game "Avalon", so we can all find it, and if we stick with the password I suggested earlier, we should all be able to join up just fine. I did check on the password thing (looks like someone else beat me to it - I know I'm later than I said I'd be), and yes, we can use a password.
Looking forward to it... Just dont forget to post a time, and say what time zone that is in, and whether that region does daylight savings time...
------------------

Battle.net likes to do that sometimes
Also, passworded games wouln't show up on the list, just so you know.
If anyone is still interested, I'd suggest making Avalon1, and each time it crashes making the next number in series (Avalon2, Avalon3, etc.) with the same password everytime
