In the first of what should be *many* stupid 400th strip celebrations... ;-) Let us know what you think is the best panel from all of Avalon to date.
I pick: 2:178.4. It has a really cool focus/blur effect, and seems ominous.
Alrighty then, go nuts... NOW. :-)
JOSH.

And don't forget that it was that panel which had us analysing the probability that Ryan didn't buy a yearbook, which only became more convoluted from there...

Mine would probably be 1:96.4, if only for Ryan's line...
I may edit this post later if I remember a different one.

Definitely 2:88.2.
Although...1:10.4 is pretty neat, too. I wish *MY* high-school had taught Fourier series.

Well, I guess mine would be 2:10. Ryan's last line made me go back and read the entire archive for the first time over that weekend, which in turn made me an Avalon freak from then on.
As for jokes, 1:211. Don't know why, but Ceiliah and Joe's reaction in the last panel always gets me.
For storylines, gotta go with Ah, Spring. Brings back memories of watching Road Runner cartoons when I was a kid. Which explains a lot 'bout me.
"Hey! NOT NICE!"
------------------

I've always loved the Ah, Spring strips, filler that they are, especially 1:134.4. But 1:215.3 rocks too.
One favorite in Avalon? Impossible.
------------------

With some insight on the Canadian political system, I personally thought 2:50.2 was gold.
But I can never look down 1:102.1 for the plug
O-
------------------

I'm goin to scour the archives later, but the first thing that came to mind was a certain strip from the New Year's Resolved storyline, which I commensed to search. Now of course I'll put in the disclaimer that I love Avalon in it's entirety, and I love this story line, and I love this strip, but this is my chosen panel: 2:74.4. More to come later?
Peace,

...despite the almost complete impossibility of picking just *one* panel, I'll vote for 2:107.4
Possibly because I've been in a similiar situation...
(...you do realise this is just a cunning plot to get us to re-read the archives again, right? I agree with the people who're saying its close to impossible to pick one panel you like the most - the entire comic is just so good.
But as to the most memorable panel, I'd have to say 2:80.4. That one was quite a surprise when I first read it. It seems to be a major turning point in the story, too - it looks like Ryan has just then given up completely on Phoebe.
Check out Larswood MUCK: http://www.larswood.com/lwmuck/index.htm

But of course, for me that would be: 1:100. In other words: The Barq's Strip!!!
Why is that one my favourite besides the humour? Because that was the first Avalon comic I ever saw.

I bid 2:154.2 and 2:158.3 a close second both on pure visual meaning.
OI. These things have been renumbered since I archived them. No fair trick.

I too, must vote for 2:80.4. Not only is it drawn differently than almost all of the other panels in the series, it is incredibly satisfying to read. It's warm, but not sappy. It read like a resolution, but it was the start of a whole other twist.
Still, a close second is 1.35.3 when Ceilidh attempts to use Cecil as her cat's-paw...
T.W.
I couldn't help it.
[This message has been edited by TW (edited 07-05-2001).]

Sorry Josh, I don't know the number, but the Halloween one, with my all-time favourite dailogue between Joe and Ceilidh :
"Quiet, Twinkletoes". Soon to be anAvalon the CCG rare card.
The next would be Helene falling into the creek after trying so hard to cope with springtime showers. You said it was pure filler - I thought it was pure simple brilliance.
After all :

Hmmm, this is really, *really* difficult...
But I'd probably go for either 2:21.3 (I just love her expression...) or 2:22.3.
Oh and the Helene filler strips were great!
And from volume I, I'd go for 1:28.4.
---

I enjoy the panel with Ceilidh whacking Joe (2:38:3) with the purse during halloween, Cecil knowing something (1:162:4)[Cecil just looks so... in that scene], and Glomp (2:137:4) is cool just for the Ceilidh weirdness.
Plus while it was a weird interlude I enjoyed Helene and the lightning.
