I agree completely with Usa and Damonk.. Painful, yet funny.
Of course, now my prediction of Tie Domi scoring the Cup-winning goal can come true!!
------------------

Heh. Weird as it sounds - seeing as how I expected many of you to be halfway to Jersey by now, riding on pickups, carrying torches and boiling oil with which to set our swamps ablaze - thank you for the... compliments. I think they're compliments. (re-reads) Okay, yeah. Thanks.
I am at heart a good fan, and didn't mean for this to insult anyone - sorry if anyone who hasn't posted got the wrong idea. It was one hell of a series, just like Damonk, myself and a thousand other analysts thought it would be, and both teams matched each other hit for hit, goal for goal, much better than any other series in the playoffs so far. I hold no grudges, but seeing as how i'm on the supposed 'winning' side, saying this doesn't hold much merit; for all of you to be so patient, understanding, polite and mature about this... it could certainly teach our state a lesson, as we took the Devils' less-than-acceptable playoff years between 1995 and 2000 with considerably less cheerful feelings. =/
But Toronto is getting stronger; with Quinn retained as coach and a stonger offensive formula that doesn't depend so much on just a few individuals (forwards such as Thomas and Sundin) and rather on balanced lines and better planning (why was Sundin double-shifted?!), next year could be hell on ice in Canada. So in short, good series, and hope you still enjoy the rest of the playoffs. =]
And since i'm supposedly so nice, i'll overlook Domi's actions, too. Enjoy the first eight games next October...
Anyway, yes, that's me talking in that .wav file. I had the quote stuck in my head all day after I came up with it quite literally in the middle of my last exam today, and you have no idea how hard it is to supress laughter in front of a hundred other students who're testing. Or maybe you do. Eh. =] Sorry the file is so large, i'm not very good at compression. One of the hosts offered to try to turn it into an .mp3, but wouldn't guarantee anything; if it works i'll post the link here for the hell of it.
And while i'm ranting, and have two beers in me which are keeping me awake (one for the end of school, the other for the Devs... I tend to drink on a per-celebratory-event basis, heh) i'd like everyone to know that i'm going to honestly try for a third-round playoff preview, now that i'm free for the summer. No promises, but with only two series in this round, it'll be a lot easier for me to cover. Look for it on Saturday or so.
Good series, all.
CH
------------------

Sara Lynn's right. Now that the Leafs are gone (and good riddance), Pittsburgh is the team to cheer for.
I appreciate your services, cloud, but the rivalry must now resume. ;-)
JOSH.

Hedburg's rise in the playoffs reminds me far too much of Brodeur's sudden and unexpected usefulness in the '94 playoffs, and there's always Lemieux. Not only that, they're a respectable bunch, and aside from being eliminated by the Pens in the second round in '98 (....grumble...) there's really no bad blood between the Devs and Pitt, unlike the very rough (and tiring) series against Toronto. Simply put, I look forward to a challenging series between a team fighting to keep the Cup that's finally found their groove, and a team quite deserving of sentimentality harboring an owner, one of the greatest players in the game, that give the city back the glory days found ten years ago. Great stuff.
But, I simply cannot let your brash and biased catcalls go unanswered...
I was going to challenge just Sara to a bet, but seeing as how Josh seems to think the deed my team did for Ottawa's memory isn't deserving of his undying love and support for the rest of the playoffs, perhaps he'd like a chance to erase his loss from back in the first round... the two of you were both involved in the first round bet but didn't get what you wanted - so what say we up the odds, double or nothing? I win, I get an even greater prize from both of you as compared to just Josh... I win, I owe Sara and Josh's debt is erased?
I challenge you, Josh and Sara. Name your terms and I shall accept the bet if they're acceptable, and fairly amusing. >=]
Oh, and don't forget to
JOIN US.
CH
------------------

for those of you that haven't seen/heard, it has been reported now that the leafs are out that cujo's been playing with a broken thumb since the first round...while not quite as cool as scoring the stanley-cup-clinching goal in overtime while skating on a broken leg, still, DAMN...i was very irritated to see jersey and colorado advance, with as well as toronto and la were playing, i would much rather have seen those two teams that were giving it their all than two teams that played a half-assed series, oh well...it's reduced me to jumping on the pittsburgh bandwagon for the rest of the playoffs, if only because i hate the other three...
finally, bettman was at the final game in the jersey-toronto series, do you think that maybe he'll do something now, what with the 4 canadian teams all being eliminated as soon as possible? (hey, at least one of them put up a fight)
the hawks are going all the way (to the quarterfinals) next year!
