A thought:
The goddess of Dischord, jealous at not having been invited to the feast of the gods, tossed into the midst of the party a golden apple, perfect in shape and form, bearing the inscription, "For the Fairest." Three goddesses immediately lay claim to it: Hera, the Queen; Aphrodite, the Beautiful; and Athena, the Wise. They appealed to Zeus to decide; but Zeus, knowing full well that one cannot stick one's hand into a hornet's nest without getting stung one's self, declined the matter.
Instead, the goddess appealed to a young swain named Paris, the youngest son of King Priam of Troy, to judge. They spun his head into total twistiness by promising him riches, or wisdom, or nations to rule, or the most beautiful woman in all the land.
For the life of me, I wouldn't wish Joe's position on anyone in the universe. Forces are slowly aligning themselves to the point where he's going to have to make a decision, and somebody is going to get hurt. Again.
Thoughts?
-myriad-

Heh.
Counter-thought:
Paris could have just given it to the palest person on Earth, fair meaning both beautiful and pale. :P
Hrm.
Me neither.
Poor Joe.
At least he has his [root] beer to console him.
Heh, A&W rootbeer all the way!

hmmmm..... how can I make you hate so much that you wish it on me???? I would have to disagree with you. To be surrounded by such strong, independent, beautiful women would be a godsend in my book. If Joe is tactful and thoughtful enough (which usually
he is) he can find a way of making sure no one is hurt. He's not sure what he wants but nobody usually is, especially if that person has never experienced these problems before. Being that this is high school he probably hasn't. To be dating Ceilidh, have the interest of Phoebe, be close friends with Alison, Helene and Deirdre - I have just one question - how do I trade places with that man,.....
of course, I would be dating Alison.
What? What do you mean it's just a comic? OF COURSE Alison is real, what are you talking about......

Well, this also gives me a chance to bitch about Pheobe's statement. What is she trying to do? Why does she care now what Joe does? If she liked Joe all this time, why didn't she do something about it then. I'm *hoping* that she is just making sure her friend Ceilidh is hooked up with the right guy...... however, if that is true, she does have a strange way of going about it...... and if she decided she does like Joe now, she sure is being really bitchy by going behind her back and confronting him now.......
oh the twistiness!

I saw a solution to that. Paris should've cut the apple in half with his mighty sword (hehe!), so it read "For the Fair" and "est" (Latin: "he is").
Twist!

It's gender neutral. Note also that since Aphrodite and Athena are referred to, rather than Venus or Minerva, the Latin probably wouldn't have helped much...
[This message has been edited by Cerebrus (edited 04-17-2001).]
