Very, very cool, MOOMANiBE! I like the style, and you're way better with lights and shadows than I am.

And good golly, those are some thin lines. :D What size to you draw at, and what materials do you use?

Wish I could do decent shadows... something I'm gonna have to practice when colouring my Samurai Susan

Heh, I think you're mistaking me for someone who draws cleanly ;)

I tend to draw super sketchy, although with a .5 mechanical pencil. The size varies, anywhere from 1/8 of a notebook page (in height) to the entire page. I scan at high resolution (the original grace is 2039x3460) and then reconstruct the entire drawing on the computer, improving it as I go -- like this;

Same sort of thing as I tend to do, seems to be the best method as I can't draw stuff from scratch on the computer using the mouse.

Well, not unless I don't mind having a horrendously crap image :P

Nice work. Though like Q99 you seem to have your own style. Not that it is a bad thing It looks good, and is far superiour to anything I have tried.

Actually, one of the reasons behind it is that the eyes are closer to the size and shape of real eyes, not the big eyes we think of when we think of Dan's art.

Nice work! I think it looks a little like Satoshi Kon's style (Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent, etc.) especially in the eyes! :)

I'd comment more on the pics themselves but MOOMANiBE already showed me them earlier and got my reviews (In short: I really like 'em, especially Sarah! And he should post more of his other stuff).

(*always likes to be fashionably late*)

Knowing you as I do, I figured that this thread was inevitable. And that's a good thing, by the way. I'm glad you found the time to color those two. Keep up the good work (and rest assured that despite my own general busy-ness, I'll be around to chat soon nonetheless).

(And yes, Q99, I'd say you have a style, and one that you should keep at.)

Yeah, so... I got a bit inspired (partially by the positive reactions) and did another one. That's actually pretty rare for me, doing more than one decent one a week. I'm considering trying to add to this thread on a semi-regular basis...
But the coloring and shading process is time-consuming, not to mention getting a sketch I like in the first place.
In short, I'm gonna try and keep going with the fanarts, but how often new stuff'll be is unknown.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate those of you who take the time to post. In fact, I want more posts! :D It doesn't even have to be positive, although I always appreciate knowing the reasoning behind criticism. Off-topic side discussions are fun, too :D

Oh yeah, I suppose I should get to the point.

<grin> Sweet. My favorite character, and I love the pose and the facial expression.

And I'm amazed at the results you get when you're basically re-making the image digitally over a rough sketch on ordinary paper. :o Clearly I have a lot to learn in the Photoshop department...
