Hi there!

quote:
Originally posted by Howard Tayler:

For his full story, the strip is the best place to start.
On two occasions in the strip, Jubal was shot defending an innocent woman (Chelsea). His actions sparked a lot of debate on the message board about wether Chivalry was still alive in the world.
Out of these discussions rose Eqvites Ivbalis - the Order of Jubal. Whilst Jubal himself fictional, as a role model of post-modern chivalry, we have made him head of our Order.

quote:
2) Do I have to be a COTC reader to participate?

It's not required. However, we may make mention of some of the events in the strip on the message board. It may help you to read the character profiles on the COTC web page, so that you know who's who.
But it is not required to enter the Order.

quote:
3) Chivalry, in its original form, seems patently sexist in a lot of BAD ways. Are you updating the code at all?

Yes!
This is dicussed at greater length on the web site, but the Oath we take is:

quote:

I, full name, do solemnly swear and commit to:
Uphold the right, even at the cost of my life;
Meter even handed justice, tempered with mercy;
Assist and defend others;
and to strive to act with honour at all times.

Can chivalry be found among violence-prone profiteers if their hearts are in the right place?

Hard to say, but I would suspect not.
Whilst I am not personally aquainted with your crew, by definition mercenaries fight based on who pays them, regardless of the cause or of their personal beliefs.
They can be honourable, in their own way, by treating prisoners with as much dignity as the situation allows, but this could hadly be called "acting with honour at all times", which is (I beleive) the hallmark of a chivalrous person.
Regards
