I am so sorry to hear of Caramon's passing. My heart goes out to Mel, James, and Raist. I've followed Two Lumps since mid-2006 when a friend sent me a cute comic about a poor kitty who thought life was woe, darkness, and teh sad. While being "consoled" by his abrasive brother, the sun came back and the attack of the emo cloud was over. I could not stop giggling, and (while at work, mind you) went through and read every single archived comic. Since then I have been hooked on Eben and Snooch's antics, as well as frequently sending the comics along with the comment of "SO TRUE!"
I'm glad Caramon had friends and family around at the end, and was as comfortable as he could possibly be. And I am amazed at the courage in the decision to keep Two Lumps going with Snooch.
We bring our pets into our homes and hearts. We know that they will only be there for a short while, but are never ever prepared for when they must leave. My two are currently 5 1/2 and 3 years of age, and I'm already dreading the end, even though both are in prime health. I lost one of the cats that lived at my parents' house (They are in Texas. I'm in Georgia.) this past April, and one of the few things that gives me comfort is knowing that we provided her with 16 1/2 years of love, and comfort, and pampering, and care.
I am not a religious person, now. But at 7 years old when my first family cat died (he was 17 and had survived not one but TWO human babies) I asked my mom if cats went to Heaven. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and said "Well, Heaven is supposed to be the most wonderful place you could possibly imagine, right? Well, I can't see it being that amazing of a place if cats aren't there."
I'm sure Caramon is there. Waiting for both of y'all (no matter how he tried to say he didn't like James). And will be extremely disgruntled in having to wait so long to get his gooshyfood.
*hugs from Georgia*
