6) Um...don't know what I'd say here...I'm an alcoholic who keeps it in check pretty well, an addictive personality in general...always manage to find something to excess in...kind of a sex addict but again not overly so, so compared to someone who's actually diagnosed as a sex addict I'm more like a...sex kitten?

Other than that, just a father, husband, and employee. I love life (generally), but I'm a space brain so I hate times when I have too many daily, mundane responsibilities. I'm kind of spiritually minded. I wish John had a spiritual discipline such as meditation or at least yoga or something. To me, that would make him more realistic as a character b/c everyone I've known who acts like him does something like that (I myself was heavily into that sort of stuff for nearly 10 years, which probably explains why I have known these types of people).

I'm a 33 year old female, living in Wisconsin. Not married, because I can't marry another girl in this state. I'm a scientist, and webcomics are one of my secret pleasures. I enjoy this site, Sluggy, Questionable Content, Scary Go Round, Order of the Stick, Girls With Slingshots, others...I found this strip about a year ago by following a link, probably because of a picture of Miriam on it. I like strips that are well-written, plot driven, and regularly updated; "Out There" is excellent on all three points. Plus, being honest here, I'm a lesbian who likes looking at shapely cartoon ladies, and this strip does that in spades. Thank you, RC Monroe. I knew a girl like Miriam in college, and I miss her. I'm a flirt myself, but not in that league.

I'm pretty much the unsettling lovechild of Araceli and Rod. I've got her pining tendencies, alcohol snobbery and awkwardness with women and his sense of humor. People's first impression of me is always as either Miriam or Sherry; there's no middle ground until the fourth encounter. I spent a few years as a slightly more "active" version of John and appreciate the yin-yang duality of John and Miriam.

Every one of the characters reminds me of someone I've known, not just vaguely but so specifically that they elicit fond memories and ongoing concern, and that's a rare thing. And seconding the shapely cartoon ladies sentiment... a poster of Sherry would look quite fetching on my office wall.

6) Hm. Well, I want to be a writer. The day job is going to be librarian, assuming that I ever manage to finish school. I'm an avid reader. Just finished a huge Agatha Christie stage where I devoured the Miss Marples (BEST. CHARACTER. EVER). I enjoy fan fiction, a little too much probably. Currently obsessed with the BBC show Merlin because it's hilarious and really really GAY. Also, been reading the comic for over a year, but finally registered because I was so excited about the comic for 1/23. I am always surprised when people on these forums speak negatively about Miriam, I love her to bits and she reminds me of me and my friends. I've been reading OH since, ooh years, since before Miriam and John got to Portstown, and I can't remember how I found it in the first place (not much help for your marketing am I, sorry!). The other webcomics I read are the Noob, xkcd and Dilbert...haven't found any others yet that keep me hooked like OH, although back when it was still going I used to love Elf Only Inn. Most of my life at this moment revolves around my cat, Pooky, and my best friend who lives much too far away. I love to play video games and watch movies and do arts of sorts. When I try to sit and think about "what I want to be," it always ends up being that - and of course that had to be the furthest thing possible away from what I am right now. I'll have to work out something until then. I love to listen to music, of course. My taste is all over the place. 6) I appreciate a well written and drawn conventional comics strip. It's not an easy task to do daily. RC Monroe delivers a funny, engaging strip with appealing characters, witty dialogue and well drawn gorgeous girls AND he does it 6 days a week without fail. I further like how it's an adult strip that uses neither profanity or nudity to tell a mature story. I think that Out There could very well be the new Doonesbury

Being over 40, I'm no longer a "target audience" of any survey nor am I included in any "hot" demographic. Most surveys have no hope of accurately reflecting the staggering labyrinthine complexity of my decision making process and subsequent purchasing habits. This is further complicated by the fact that I'm frequently broke and have no purchasing power anyway Times that I'm not broke, I'd be inclined to buy a book collection like Out There 1 and Next Round as well as the upcoming third book this year. I would also buy a sandblasted Clayton beermug and a micro brewed Out There beer if they were available.

I figured, as long as I don't hear them saying it, it's alright. Way to prove me wrong, furrykef. I'm not a phonetic expert, so bear with me, but it's something like "Hee-hon", with a really short and emphasised o. It's not that hard!

It happens that I do speak Spanish, so I know how it's pronounced. But now everyone else does too, hehe. BTW, the most common description of the Spanish G/J sound is like the "ch" in "loch", which I think is pretty accurate for most dialects (but I think many Spaniards pronounce it stronger than that).

Well, I didn't know that. Thing is, yeah, it's even stronger than that (except in Latin America, where people speak with a much softer accent. Personally, I find it cute), so I figured that the h would be an accurate enough phonetic representation. And now, back to the questions.

I found out there comic searching for shoes to purchase online. Miriam red hair was on an advertisement for the apple iphone. I recently dyed my hair red and thought "what's this" & "who is this? She looks like me?
I started reading the out there comic that day and never stopped. I connected with Miriam and Use to be alot like her. It took me two days to finish reading Out There, this happen in May of this year. I quickly became an "Out There" addicted. It's the only web-comic I read. The last and only comic, I was fond of was calvin and hobbes.
I love, LOve LOVE!! OUT THERE!. I am clinically depressed and I enjoy reading it everyday. I laugh hard all the time and find myself re-reading it over and over. . My only hobby is drinking a glass of red wine, and on occasion the whole bottle.

Uhm, lotsa hobbies: music, gaming, manga, comics in general, singing, drawing, painting, playing the piano (poorly) and websurfing. I'm all about family, relaxing and having fun. We have a cat, Jazz, who's our "kid" these years. Oh, and I'm an atheist and a socialist. And ofc I love Out There! I read about 25 webcomics, and OT is definitely in my top 3.

If I go and stand on a mountain with an amazing view, I feel all warm and fuzzy.

I discovered Out There about 4 days ago, because Miriam seduced me from an advert with her... two lumps. When I was reading Two Lumps. Hey, just because I'm mostly straight doesn't mean I can't appreciate a well-drawn lady, right? I got completely sucked in, and I estimate I lost a good two days of my life catching up with the rest of you. Time well spent, thank you very much. Webcomics-wise, I read xkcd for the insightful simplicity, and I read Two Lumps because... I'm not sure really. It's fluffy and familiar.

I love the comic because it's so true. Painfully so at times, because I firstly identified with Miriam. I'd probably still be like that if I didn't have a kid. I can still be like that when I've got a babysitter but I don't find it as much fun as it used to be... so maybe I identify a bit more with Sherry now. Either way, I should probably drink and smoke less. You do know that if this were televised, you'd probably have to give Miriam liver disease or lung cancer or both, by law, so we don't all follow her example? It's refreshing to see characters with bad habits that don't have to get them "fixed" within a couple of episodes.

(As a side note, I would say that if nothing else can be gleaned from this topic, it shows that most of your readers have no kids, and some even need to express their disgust at the idea of spawning sprogs. Quite a few "Eww"s and "Ick"s. Speaking from the minority, I'd just like to provide a bit of balance and say that kids don't have to be nauseating - as long as you clean their cage out every couple of weeks they're really no trouble at all. If you train them to do simple tricks they can even be a moneyspinner.)

Currently I'm trying to figure out how to get the Postal Service to decide what it wants to be when it grows up. (It's NOT about moving pieces of paper.) Also working on a prototype appliance for maintenance of medical equipment for home use. When I told my daughter was looking for some kind of logic control board for the thing she said: "You know, I have SEVEN of those!" She's artistic like that. (onecoldhand.com) I think I was pulled in from a revue of Out There on stumbleupon. Driving past someone on the road and turning around and going back (and kicking yourself all the way) is something I have done-multiple times. I'm an ex-Mensan who technically "completed" Script-Frenzy-even though I still haven't finished the script two years later (I was told I want too much control. Maybe it will be a book?) I'm trying to figure out what i want to be when I grow up as well-hopefully I will by the time I retire.
By the way, what is that peeking out of the waistband of the "Want a Lick?" girl? She gets me anyway, like some kind of slightly alien jail bait. (You don't actually get old inside-you'll find out.)
I've been reading OT for about six days and I'm up to 3-31-2009. I like the subtle nuances that give the characters life. Ari looked so vulnerable and "little girl-ish" in one of the recent ones (for me) I wished I could give her a hug. The story line and dialog seems well thought out and intelligent. I was up in Pittsburgh last year and the city reminds me of some areas around there. I guess that's it.
