Tamers ruined it for me. As if ripping off of YuGiOh would be a good idea.

So, hey, I've got something.

DAJournal Crosspost:
If you've been watching my scraps I've come up with a rather typical idea where a normal guy is turned into a pokemon and subsequently captured by a newbie trainer. I've come to the unfortunate conclusion that I'll keep getting ideas for this situation until I start making something with it.

So I'm gunna make a little minicomic series. It won't interfere with anything else, I'm gunna make sure of that. It'll be worked on as much as Idle Musings was. But the only problem is, I'll need more characters. So, I'll take a chance and ask if anyone wants a cameo.

A few rules:

1) I'll only pick you if I like the character. Sorry to say, but I'll be pretty picky XP

2) I'm only looking for about 5 or 6, so if I don't pick you it's probably because I ran out of slots.

3) Characters will be pokemon, but only the first 149. I'll need a name, what pokemon it is, and a one or two word summery of their personality X3 I'll give you credit for it, but I'm going to assume creative control. These characters will make relatively frequent appearances (especially if I assign them to Brian).

4) Don't bug me about your characters. I'll probably not want to do it if you nag.

also this comic is being made for the sole purpose of blocking the ideas I keep getting XP It works with everything else, so maybe I can use it to my advantage and be able to focus on other things. So if it suddenly stops, I'm sorry XD

Also I'll need a couple of electric characters, specifically.

Thanks for the help X3

So basically I need just a couple characters for this comic. They're going to be pokemon that Cole/Charlie interacts with. Remember pokemon trainers are, like, 10. So try for realism when naming them XP (IE don't be afraid to get corny) 10 year olds wouldn't make obtuse references or anything like that XP

Also be advised that I'm pretty much gunna change whatever I have to to make it work so I take nothing suggested set in stone. I hope that doesn't bother you. XP

Penny the Persian (you know, evolved form of Meowth). Playfull, affectionate, and manipulative. She may have her own agenda and plans, but she seems sympathetic to anyone who could be of use to her.

Sounds like a real charmer XP Meowth/Persians don't have my favorite designs, but that's alright I can deal. I'll probably use her as a Gym Leader's pokemon, though. Most of the scripted trainers are too young to have anything that's already evolved.

Given that I know God exists, I've determined that he must simply have a wicked sense of humor. Granted, I seem to have inherited it, but that doesn't change the fact that POKEMON HAUNTS ME EVERYWHERE!

Porygon isn't that hard to draw, even I can draw the darn thing. You may want to look it up in an online Pokedex or something, though. Its original in-game sprite sucks and its kinda been blacklisted from the anime. (If you don't know why, what rock have you been hiding under?)

lesse...

Porygon #132. The Epilepsy pokemon! Sends rival trainers into seizures to win battles. XD Evolves into Porygon 2 which isn't a G1 pokemon. It's a man made pokemon, so I don't know how often I'd like them to appear outside of controlled situations (IE in a lab).

It didn't do a thing, it was Pikachu, he Jumped off the Back of Porygon to let out Thunder or Thunderbolt, at a set of Computer Generated Missiles.

(Pikachu despite being on TV for about 10 years, no one has actually stated he is male. When being Dressed Outfits are usually are male oufits.)

Squato brought up an excellent point.

None of the cameo characters were once human. Just to be clear.

Species: Grimer
Name: Grimelda
Gender: Female(Don't ask me the difference between a male and a female Grimer)
Personality: Quite the opposite of what you'd expect from a Grimer, Grimelda hates messes, and is a compulsive cleaner. She isn't very bright, however, and often misses the very trail she leaves behind just by moving. Whenever she's not cleaning, she drinks tea.

Ey, route 66 ain't in the first game! That only went up to... about 30? =P

To be honest... not the best I've ever seen you do. However, that might have something to do with being irritated by reading-trouble; the text in the second panel especially is too small at this size (AFTER zooming in, not counting download because I haven't tried it yet). And the lowest text is crossed by the artwork, making it even harder to read. Looking really closely (with glasses on because I'm sick and too lazy to put in my contacts) makes me able to read it, but it really shouldn't take that much effort. xD

"Cry-sis?" xD

So. Yeah. Just some criticism I hope you can do something with. No need for any defence, I'm pretty sure you're capable of doing whatever you think is best. =)

(*Tries* Ah, the download link is far better when it comes to the text... still, I think cleaning up behind the text would be a good idea in the future =P)

It's a quick fire process. Just getting the comic out there is my main concern. As long as the actions can be interpreted correctly, it's passable. X3

I stroke the text with a white outline whenever it overlaps the sketch, but I can see where you're coming from. I'll probably just thicken it next time.

I put the download there so the comic doesn't break the tables in DA. I could put the full size in the full view, but it'd look pretty nasty with DA's format.

And don't worry about criticism. I actively look for it because few people seem actually willing to give it XP

Since you're working with a white background, here's what I would do:

Write the text, draw a selection in the form of an ellipse around the text, select the artwork(-layer) and hit 'delete'. Repeat for all text. Fill a layer with all-white and put it at the very bottom to prevent any transparency, and it should be readable. I think all this takes about 1 minute for all the text in a comic, but would solve my problem.

Criticism is rarely given because most people do worry. With good reason, because artists tend to have some sort of fear for doing things wrong, and criticism is often seen as 'the list of things the artist sucks at' by the artists themselves. =P

I consider my entire gallery as a "list that this artist sucks at" XP But that's why I ask for criticism because I want to do it better.

and while that would work as far as readability, I really don't want to compromise the sketch too much. It's messy and not really detailed, but the art is a big part of a comic.

Here: let me increase the outline and see if that's better.
