If you are referring specifically to the "it's over 9000" bit, it's a DragonBall Z reference; when Vegeta analyses the power level of (was it Gohan?) he finds it to be extraordinarily large, using that particular exclamation to voice his incredulity. At least, in the English translation he did, in the original, not so much.

1) Python actually makes sense. Its own sort of sense...but it makes sense. It's not just a bunch of random phrases thrown together haphazardly.

That's an opinion, and I'm really happy that you have it. However, it's only an opinion. Saying "it's time people learned that" sounds like you want everyone to have your opinion, and that annoys me.

All in all some of these made me smile, though I agree with Tricia. They're only random for random's sake. I don't find it lolfunny. XP I could probably manage one, but this sort of thing's too restrictive for my tastes. ^^

personally I think family guy lays it a little thick and sometimes really has no plot (pretty sure I remember seeing one like that) but that is just my opinion, and there are plenty of people that think family guys balances randomness and well other stuff well. While others would love to have a show dedicated to complete randomness (there have been many, which kinda proves my point).

Personally, I thought the first one was hilarious. The second one was just... wierd. The third one: :-|

The fourth one I could follow, but it just kind of made me go "meh." And for some reason, I will never get over the "saving Chicago" joke that seems to crop up everywhere I go. I have no idea where it's originally from, but I still like it.

Randomness in and of itself is not funny. No matter how many times you say "monkey," it still won't be funny when used in the wrong context. Structure within that randomness is what makes things funny.

Try getting your friends to read a random strip somewhere in the middle of the story arc where they're at the party. They'll think it's completely random, but you might still get a laugh because of the way it's structured.

I thought the first comic in this thread, personally, was hilarious. It was random, but it loosely made sense and seeing the characters in such an unordinary situation was humorous in and of itself.

I didn't really like the second one. It was a bunch of "do anything for a laugh" jokes that didn't really have any main plotline and a random 4Chan reference thrown in the mix to make it seem "edgy."
