How did you come up with your username?

I just like this name. Yeah, it's not exactly creative...

Taken from the movie Scrooged:

-- snip --

I know the people.
Well, uh, granted, but the people|already wanna watch the show.
That isn't good enough!
They have got to be so scared|to miss it, so terrified!
Now, if I were in charge,
and I AM...
Perhaps I can help you.
Here's what I'd do. Grace, cue it up.
Acid rain.
Drug addiction.
International terrorism.
Freeway killers.
Now, more than ever...
..we must remember|the true meaning of Christmas.
Don't miss Charles Dickens'|immortal classic, "Scrooge",
Your life might just depend on it.
Not bad, huh?

-- snip --

When the narrator says "acid rain", somebody is covered with an acid like chemical and there clothes are burning. That's the way I remember anyway. Back in the 80s acid rain was a hot topic.

I always had a made up name some where in my head, so it isn't that hard for me to come up with names.

A long ass time ago I was working on my death metal vocals.

For like 8 hours straight.

Eventually I couldn't talk.

I then registered on a forum, needed a name, and decided to poke fun at myself with "NumbVocals."

NumbVox simply looks better, and has now adapted to represent the sort of apathy-filled discourse I spew.

I really like how descriptive your thread titles are. What wrong with "Where does your username come from?" instead of "So...".

As for where my username comes from, I guess it's fairly obvious, because I regularly get private messages and emails in various places from people who've "figured it out" and are real proud about it. For those of you in the dark, it's basically "f(x)" spelled out. I had a math teacher in college (the awesome Arturo Sangalli) who had a rather peculiar way of pronouncing f(x) that became a running gag with my classmates. I liked it enough that I tried registering it for hotmail, and when it worked, I started using it everywhere.
Poison is an acquired taste.

I didn't think people would think it was an interesting topic and I thought more people would look at the thread to see what it was about if I made the title vague.

That's pretty sad.

I think it's pretty damn cool name. I didn't catch that at all. I thought it had something to do with computer graphics, like it was an odd spelling of "effects" that I didn't understand. I am impressed with myself I even recognize that f(x) is a math thing. I couldn't tell you how to use it though without researching it. Ooo... that college education really stuck with me. I want a refund.

There's nothing wrong with the name. I thought it was sad that people thought they were such geniuses for figuring it out.
