Hm. It seems to me that Penny shouldn't have to rely on anybody to do her own work for her. She's proven to be pretty strong on her own. IMO, Michelle's being an idiot, and is getting upset over nothing.

6/25:1> Aggie glances back at Penny as the other is called upon in what has long been noted as a weak subject.
6/25:2> Penny gets extremely flustered attempting to answer. This is something I find interesting--it suggests Penny cares more about academic performance than she's let on.
6/25:3> Aggie is, indeed, looking smug, while Penny fails to get any useful help from Michelle. Aggie's thought-bubble suggests she's aware that she really does think she's being better by jumping in than by letting Penny 'twist in the wind'.
6/25:4> Penny answers the question, gets a modest bit of praise from the teacher (although it is mixed with a light rebuke for jumping in). Significantly, we cannot see Penny's initial reaction to being 'saved'.
6/25:5> Michelle launches her initial attack as the girls file out. Penny looks like she's barely aware of what is about to happen; Sara looks downright shocked.
6/26:1> Michelle continues her assault on a fairly relaxed-looking Aggie, whose attention, really, seems more on Penny, who in turn is shooting Sara a dirty look; Sara's looking flummoxed.
6/26:2> Hall gossip makes it clear that everyone views this as a fight between Penny and Aggie, despite the fact that Michelle is serving as Penny's 'champion'.
6/26:3> BAM! Penny comes across with possibly the most devastating counter-punch she could muster--one which, I think, digs at Michelle, as much as Penny, as Michelle had failed to assist Penny when asked. This is key.
6/26:4> As the crowd grins at seeing first blood, Penny looks pissed; twice in ten minutes, Michelle has failed to help Penny out of a jam.
I think that Penny, having originally sincerely meant to help out (even if for selfish reasons, namely living up to her father's image of her), has been angered just enough to decide to take out Michelle; if Penny wants to come out of this without a TKO to her side, she's going to have to step into the ring herself, unless Sara takes the lead next.

Uh, on that last part, are you talking about Aggie living up to her dad's image of her, and of taking out Michelle?
