[Review - Mar 21 2006] Welcome to the Reviews Blog!

A place to discuss deshive.com, the central hub for Dan Shive's (author of El Goonish Shive) projects. It has blogs, too! ...but no pool table :(

*Laughs* I like the idea of the two marks! And, what was the inspiration behind this particular avatar for Reviews?
Newb pack, half bottle of immortaility infused water, instant gravy pack, emu, auto-cleaning label,
Ninja Tedd action figure, pinapple cheese, from Jasmine: Australian Style Hat that says, "Here, fishy fishy!",
a giant tub of chocolate, perma-melted, Chibi Jyrras Plushie from anti-paragon.

I think everyone's experienced the difference between personally liking something and thinking it was "good." I'm surprised more people haven't done something like this.

I look forward to reading some actualy reviews here. I've already added the site to my "daily trawl."
On hiatus from City of Heroes due to lack of interest. (on my part)

There is no emoticon for the anger I feel from looking at this.

Now I don't know what you did to code this, but so far I don't see any problems (or major ones that matter). Also, I noticed that you are talking about things you have said in the forums before, but may have been missed by others.

(Got to look that avater you have there.)

I must say, my favorite part of this might be the reviews, but I'll always laugh at "The Comic Book Shive".

I like the two marks system as well.

Will you also give an idea of who the reviewed thing might be unsuitable for? Like a mention if it contains gore, or something? (Not that it's necessary or anything; it's just something I find useful in reviews, as I can be incredibly wimpy and squeamish.)

Don't suppose we can have a bigger version of the pic as a filler sometime? :D

Very cool. Very, very cool. I like the idea of a subjective/objective system, it makes it so that you can see both the personal opinon and the overall goodness of the movie. (Though they are both subjective, I think I can trust your judgement)

And... Comic Book Shive? Normally I would say "Thirded" but that would be immature and silly...

>_> <_<

HAHAHAH! I have musics!

My sucky Fanmusic thread! (why didn't I think of Putting it in my sig before?)

Just as a word of my personal oppinion... I found the war of the worlds to be rubbish, not because of feeling empathy for the extras, but merely because it was... well... rubbish! I mean, the special effects were great, but that was about the only good part. I mean, what a letdown at the end! All that suspense for nothing! Shortly after watching the film I read the book, and the two were nothing alike! For a start the main character had vastly been changed, to the extent of inventing two children out of thin air, making him break up with his wife, changing his nationality and reducing his I.Q. by about fifty... and the ending was done much better in the book, whilst the effect still being the same (the martians were beaten off by microscopic bacteria), it was still a good ending because it was all explained as to how this was possible, and the suspense was still there in that this could have been a pre-emptive strike by the martians or something.

However I think your idea of giving objective and subjective ratings is overall a good idea. Look forward to seeing some reviews!

I didn't like War of the Worlds mostly because I couldn't get past Dakota Fanning screaming all the time. Annoying as heck. Heck, I tell ya!

but I'll always laugh at "The Comic Book Shive".

Is there a word in Klingon for....ah never mind. I got nothin.
