Episode V The Podcast Strikes Back

Postby Speaker Wiggin on Mon Mar 06, 2006 2:16 pm

"I think it just got a little bit easier out here for a pimp."

Good mix of question/random this time methinks.

Like the News music - MUCH better than the theme song! :D

Was that an actual "McGruff" ad? It blew my mind.

Knowing the actual Blank Label history first hand and knowing that Scott Kurtz is married, I didn't find much humor in that portion, but much of this podcast amused me. There was a moment when Mark was talking about the redone Star Trek movie when the Chrises sort of stole the thunder at a moment when I was interested in what Mark had to say, but still, overall a good cast in my opinion. I'd listen to it again just for fun, and that's always a good sign ^_^

At the very least, I owe this episode for keeping me from falling asleep while doing the digital editting for my already late comic for today ^^;

Oh, and what's wrong with picking Zoe? :wink:

Yeah - i almost forgot, the McGruff add really threw me! LMAO

And the LAST star trek movie was NEMESIS - Insurrection came before NEMESIS.

I think that if we cant look back and have a little fun with the BLC situation when others poke fun at the Spot, thats just sad. It was all in good fun, I would hope they could take it.

Yeah, we tried to keep a better reign on this episode, I think we did pretty good. And yes, thats a real McGruff ad. I've signed up to donate a bit of our time to AD council ads. It gives the show a nice little break and maybe it could help some folks. Plus, it helps us get used to a break for when we get actual paying commercials....

and that commercial made me laugh...

It was mostly the Kurtz angle I didn't like, but that's just my opinion. I tend to not be in the majority and am overly sensitive to certain things.

For example, I'm not nearly as desensitized to violence or suffering in movies as most people I know; I couldn't enjoy the new "War of the Worlds" movie because I felt too sorry for everyone in it, regardless of how minor the character (the image of some random extra dying made me unhappy).

...at least, that's why I THINK I couldn't enjoy it; I've been told by people who are more desensitized that there are plenty of other reasons not to... ^^;

I know I was too close to the mic this time, that was my bad. but someone else was breathing into the mic a lot. DAMN YOU, SOMEONE!!! (it wasn't me or Mekkes)

also, the BLC comments were made in jest. this is fake news, just like the Daily show (no relation). I love most of the blank label comics and the creators I've met are nice guys. maybe we could have them on the show? switch it up? eh?

glad you liked the news song. hearing myself looped 14 times over singing hair metal gets me all worked up. Just like White Snake used to do. ooohhh, White Snake.

Of course the Kurtz/Blank Label stuff was all in good fun (I don't really pretend to be him, usually I just cause trouble pretending to be "world-renowned historian" T Campbell. :smug: ) Unfortunately I had an even more involved scenario built around that which I had planned to use for my "something we didn't know about you" question. Imagine my surprise when Layfield pulled out the same gag! Ah, live broadcast... sort of.

But I'm just happy that they stopped me before I could reveal any more secrets about the Keenspot Theme Park, or start singing the song from the boat ride... "It's a sin fest after all, it's a sin... sin... fest!!!"

And yes, I am horribly embarrased that I confused Clint Hollingsworth with Ron Howard's younger brother.

I thought this was a good one.

First Movie, huh? The sign of a TRUE Star Trek fan. I like Wrath of Khan myself.

Great job all around, guys.

Thanks for asking and to Mekkes for answering it. I tend to enjoy movie soundtracks too (although lately it has been game soundtracks)

McGruff the Crime Dog is an animated mascot that talks to kids and tells them how to stay on the straight and narrow!

He was HUGE in the 80s. I thought he disappeared, but apparently he's back?

Ah right, thanks for the info, Speaker.

Oddly there's no British equivalent, unless you count the cartoon hedgehogs that teach you to cross the road safely.

I'm kind of stunned that we got through a "best Star Trek movie" discussion without bringing up Wrath of Khan. I will admit that that was my favorite before the restored Motion Picture.

When I rent and/or buy the restored first Trek movie, I'll say Zortic sent me. I'm sure they'll understand :wink:

I've said it once, and I'll say it again.

I approve of any podcast that mentions the words "Melonpool" or "Steve Troop."

Read it. Learn it. Live it.

And for some real BLC hijinx, you should have me on the podcast. I'll give you some dirt you can chew on. ;)
