There are currently two important dates of the Agnostica season:

December 14: "QM Day," the "first day of Agnostica
December 21/22: The Winter Solstice. The main celebration. A good day to throw an Agnostica party (though any day is a good day for an Agnostica party).

Otherwise, what they said. The Agnostica season has an indeterminant end. It ends when you're sick of it.

Another question is, what parameter cannot be determined, if we manage to locate Agnostica with sufficient certainty.

Well, there's the contents of the Schodinger box, of course. If someone opens the Schrodinger box and fixes its contents, then perhaps Agnostica can't end until a new Schrodinger box is created.


Incidentally, I'm amused that the Wikipedia entry for Agnostica says that there is some question as to whether Agnostica was invented by King Luca or not... Maybe that's what became uncertain?

If there is an 'Agnostica Day' in there, it hasn't been observed yet and so has some probability to be on any one of those (based on the uncertainty principle).
I'm not sure whether it might be heresy to observe an 'Agnostica Day', thereby fixing it..

Last year I gave Thinking Putty (Think of it as silly putty for adults), but I have no clue on how it was recieved.

I suppose I could focus on the "random" aspect of the random bag of fun, and find a way to find something very random under the very broad criteria.

Of course, I could focus on the fun part, and look for toys.

It was about 25 people. It's been a lighter load this year, with only 7 so far (but there hasn't really been time for the packages to come in yet). Maybe discouraging credit card donations turned some people off? I reworded the "credit cards bad" section so as not to be so discouraging, but it might be too late.

I have just come back from celebrating Christmas (or as we still call it in these ungodly parts: Yule) with my to all intents and purposes unbelieving family and what should I find in my office but a parcel from "Random Bag of Fun", Berkeley, US.

I shall now proceed to open it.

Aaannnd, we have a present.
Probably the most interesting present of the year (or last year) certainly the most random (and, no, I'm not dissing my presents. I'd asked for, and I very much appreciate, all the kitchen utensils, I recieved).

Anyway my random present for Agnostica 2005 is:

"OWL PUKE"

That's right owl cast of my very own to take apart to look for the mouseskeleton. Complete with 96 page book on the fascinating life of owls. Suitable for ages 8-12 (batteries not included).

It's quite a good idea, actually. As it happens, I grew up in the countryside, and we had owls, but I never took time to look for cast and dissect it. Thank you, kind anonymous donor, for this wonderful chance to <strike>relive</strike> compensate for my misspent youth.
