What's that in the second panel? Are we seeing a flashback? Or is someone sneaking up on our AI narrator?

Looks like someone's sneaking up on the Inlay while it's distracted trying to distract Tessa. The player's gettin' played!
As for the attacker, that looks to be the same armour Sticks had way back in Future Developments, so I'm guessing Kingston snuck into Cook's lab and stole it. What? It could happen.

Gah, I forgot my readers are stupid. Next I'll put "this is a flashback you fuckwits" in big letters on it.
Edit: To be fair I was going to add the tower into the skyline to prove to the point but it made it look too cluttered. I thought the Inla being big and with golden eyes would be enouth but I guess not.

From the distance you drew it at, it looked more like the narrator AI had some kind of faceplate. Now that the new comic's up, the whole thing is a lot clearer; it just needed that little extra bit of context it got from the opposite-side view of the Inlay King facing his opponents. It's actually kinda spiffy this way, I like it.
