it works in diffrent ways for diffrent people....
some do better when their taught some of the basics...some are better off being self taught...
personaly i started teaching myself but when i ran into a block of my abilitys i sought the advice of a friend whos a much superior artist...
he helped me out a lot and i've improved 1000 fold...i'll see about finding some of my new stuff and posting it soon...

I've take an art classes to learn about different styles of art... maybe pick up a pointer here or there. However, I don't go to be 'taught' how to draw.

I'd post some art, but my scanner hasn't functioned since we got the new computer.

noone can be 'taught' how to do art...as you put it....
but you can be taught techniques...and with the proper assortment of said techniques you can put together your own style...
the basics to certin things like toning and shading for example are the same....it's how you continue to build on what you've learned that makes you an artist...

There's merit to what you say, Pi. Right now however I'm using one of those wooden anatomy figures with moveable limbs. It kind of helps, but I still have problems with musculature and of course making hair and clothes appear more "alive". Facial ticks and eye depth I've pretty much got by now.

ouch..well when your old enough to get what you wan't also be sure to check out Darren Aronofsky...he directed Pi (the source of my handle in part...) and Requiem For A Dream...
the latter comes in two ratings...R and NR (non Ratted.) Both are excellent films...a true work of geinus...

It really sucks. The only R-rated movie I have ever seen is the Matrix.

The Matrix was R-rated? Dayum.

Anyway, when you turn R years old there are some movies you should see.

Terminator 2- Fuck all other action movies you may or may not have seen. This will always be the ultimate one. Also, you should check out it's predecessor: The Terminator.

Aliens- Bill Paxton, Lance Hendricksen, Michael Biehn and some other people who's names I can't remember but who were pretty important as well in one of the best sci-fi flicks ever done.

Scarface- The movie where Al Panchino learned how to say fuck.

Taxi Driver- Ever get annoyed when people say "Yoo talkin' to me?" Well, here's the reason why. Good movie, btw.

Goodfellas- More mafia goodness.

The Godfather- Can you tell I like mafia movies?

Dogma- The best comedy ever made. The last child of Jesus, the 13th Disciple of Jesus, two prothets, the Metatron and a muse are trying to stop the angels Bartleby and Loki from entering a New Jersey church. If they don't, then existence is negated.

Amores Perros- Mexicos answer to Short Cuts. Good story, good acting and nice camerawork.

Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead- Romero's zombie trilogy. You have no choice but to love it. Also, Dawn of the Dead 2004 is pretty good.

Die Hard- Classic 80's action.

Predator- Arnold running around in a jungle screaming.

The Shining- Kubrick's movie of Stephen King's book. A "haunted house" story with Jack Nicholson overacting in a wonderful manner.

Natural Born Killers- Media satire about two killers who become the media's new darlings.

Ok, before you think I'm a sad, violence addicted nerd: I do like drama as well. It's just that I can't think of one drama that's been rated R right now, because most dramas I've seen were in Swedish, and we don't have an R-rating. Just turn 15 and you can see anything, 'cept porno.
