Yes, it makes a lot of sense. Hanging up on Angela like that seemed a little strange--especially since she was trying to apologize and explain. I hope poor Shannon and the tyke pull through.

While you're probably thinking of the baby being lost in a horrible accident of some sort, it's also quite possible that a miscarriage will occur. Happened to a girl in our play... she found out she was pregnant, baby due in February. We re-arranged our choreography and blocking to make sure that she wouldn't have to be on her stomach and then one day, when I asked after how the pregnancy was going, I found out they'd lost the baby. *wry grin* Probably one of those things I should have already known, but I'm never good at picking up theater scuttlebutt.

Statistics

Personally, I'm going for a simple dead faint due to misunderstanding the energy requirements of a pregnancy or the disorienting effects it can have on the body. Yes, it could still lead to damage of the baby, but they're sturdier than you might think.

I mean, if Shannon was lying on the floor playing with Zot (hypothetically), wouldn't she have heard Felix and Kes come in the door? A word, a wave, a budge?

Agreed. I started reading a bit before the date it says I joined the forums. And now, we get this. The scary thing is the real-life basis of the strip.

The fact that it has a real-life basis makes it that much more believeable...and that much easier to connect to. When I saw Shannon's legs, my breath caught in my throat....still waiting for Monday (Did I just say those words? )
