I could swear Joe had a can of soda in the second panel, just because of the way his hand's positioned in panel three
A truly classic stip
(And Ceilidh's borrowing Joe's clothes already? Nonono, Ceilidh...you don't put on the jersey and ask if you can borrow it afterwards, you suggest that you might look really NICE in the jersey...and not much else...*ahem*
I mean, yeah, the look on Deed's face...PRICELESS! ^-^;;
------------------

Personally that'd remind me more of the Friday the 13th horror movies... But that's just me.
As for that expression... reminds me very much of Mizu's icon, though the smile is a tad smaller.
Dyn: that's just because Joe still has his hand in the claw-like position for opening a door. I absolutely love the way Helene is holding onto the door for dear life, as if it could shield her from this weird happening. Joe's expression says so clearly "what the hell?!!" it practically screams it. And Ceilidh is so stunned she is still holding onto the Sens shirt...so great!
And yes, the earnest and excited look on Deidre's face is in fact:
PRICELESS
Harlenna

[This message has been edited by Harlenna (edited 09-29-2001).]

The look on Ryan's face worries me... seems to me he should be a little happier to have Deirdre with him.
What's he up to?

I really enjoyed waking up today and finding a new Avalon strip. So far, it's been one of the best saturday mornings I've had in a while. I wish Josh would write a strip every saturday.
Of course there was an equal and opposite reaction last monday when there was no strip: I was distraught.

My guess is that everyone is going to pester him and ask endless questions about the relationship (with the look on his face, you can tell he looks kind of shy or embarrased).
As for Deirdre: LOL!!!! That look on her face. Pure gold!

I was ROTFLMAO when I saw that strip today.
Josh, that was above and beyond priceless -- and leaves us with a one-day weird spot to speculate over. Now it's perfectly clear why you're an Evil Cartoonist.

Ehn, I don't think that it will come to that. Joe is likely the only one to have anything to say on his choice. I doubt DD's history is THAT well known.
I could be wrong, but I think Ryan's just got that defensive, "just in case" stance for revealing a relationship that has been secret for 6 or so months.
My votes on the cheesy grin on DD's face. It screams, "HI! Please don't look at me like that!"
------------------

Not quite sure what I think of this Saturday strip. The next few strips will make a big difference, fleshing out all the reactions that we're right now taking from their facial expressions.
Ryan looks annoyed. Not sure why. You'd think he'd expect everyone to be surprised: Now not one, but two of their friends are suddenly in a relationship nobody (probably) saw in its early stages.
Joe's reaction is confusing. To me, he doesn't look all that surprised, at least compared to Ceilidh and Helene. Less "Oh my..." and more "oh." Maybe he did suspect something. Or he realizes he should have.
I wonder if Joe has a headache now? (see http://www.avalonhigh.com/d/20001122.html )

[This message has been edited by Jaxartes (edited 09-29-2001).]

I knew this storyline would be pure gold. Very very good work. This is definately a classic... and to think, it's so early in the third volume!

Loved the look on DD's face. As for Ryan, methinks he's bitching at the reaction of his friends, I don't think he was expecting stunned silence.
------------------

IMO, Ryan was expecting that kind of reaction from his friends. And right now he's defensive. Like, "NO, there is nothing wrong, I can go out with DD if I bloody want to, just who do you think you are to judge me?!? "
That may have unfortunate results.
Anh Minh
