The new "Greystone Inn" books are finally IN!

Postby Brad J. Guigar on Mon Nov 03, 2003 4:57 am

Holy moley! Just in time for holiday shopping, too!

The second and third Greystone collections are finally available!

Come ON! That was FUNNY! is the second Greystone Inn collection. It starts waaaaaaay back with Argus getting a visit from a televangelist and ends up with the beginning of the 2001 Halloween party.

Also featured:

-- A sizzling Lightning Lady bonus story in full color. This has never been seen anywhere. It tells how Lightning lady became the super-villain she is today. We also find out her real name. It's a work I'm very proud of, telling three stories at once.

-- A visit from Dubya

-- The attack of the Peeps

-- The origins of the "Greystone Inn" comic Argus stars in

-- The visit to the Philly Zoo

-- Jacquillyn Hyde

-- The first appearance of Lightning Lady

-- The first appearance of Aunt Thorne

-- The first appearance of the Rat Pack

The Show Must Go On (...And On) is the third Greystone Inn collection. It picks up with the 2001 Halloween party and goes from there.

Also included:

-- The first appearance of Sam Snood, Turkey Detective

-- Mac and Sam's first Christmas together

-- Keagan and Lightning Lady's first date

-- Sammy gets downsized

-- TV Horror Hosts

-- The epic "Keagan Newborne: Super Villain" storyline!

-- The full-color bonus story takes a look at an intimate moment between Keagan and Lightning Lady as Keagan consdiers her past "conquests."

Of course, to complete your Greystone library, you'll also need Dilutions of Grandeur

*sigh* - and just after i finished applying cold compresses to my poor credit card....still, the history of lightning lady? this moves it into the "must have" category.

actually, now i think of it, giving up food for the month would probably help my diet....

Wow! 3 books. That's great Brad. What's the cost on the deal going to be? Also, why does it always take me so long to connect to Keenspot comics or message boards. It drives me nuts!

Answering the last question first: I wish I knew. It pisses me off, too.

About buying all three books at a special price, I'm still waiting for an answer. :(

I say! Good tidings, M. Guigar. Been anxiously awaiting the new GI books (along with Plan 9's long promised Tumbleweeds reprints.) Thanks for alerting us, and the color art looks ripping!

I'd say the delays are just pure bandwidth issues.. So many people accessing the server(s) that the bandwidth allotment Keenspot has is stretched to the max.

As far as I can tell, Keenspot runs off advertising revenue and the pockets of the admin.. so they probably have as much up and down stream as they can afford but it's not going to be as impressive as say, Yahoo's.

UPDATE:

According to the Plan 9 Web site, the special pricing on the individual Greystone books is no longer available.

You can still get the three-book set for a special price for a limited time. If you're planning on buying, this is the time. :D

I'm still waiting for an answer out of them about getting them shipped from the Canadian site.. It's frustrating, I emailed them as soon as you announced the special, and STILL no answer of any kind. How long does it take to write "Sorry, but no." or "YES!!!" ^_^

It's just the shipping prices are exoberant from US Sites. (And very padded 99% of the time. I vaguely remember Plan 9's being better than most.) I ship to and from both the U.S. (PO Box) and Canada.. I know exactly how much postage costs are.. The worst on record EVER is still (*COUGH*) from PVP. $15 USD to ship a piece of paper and a couple pieces of paper to Canada. I don't think so. But then, I've always found him a complete money grubber.

Er.. What was my point? It'd be nice if we got told how long the specials lasted and if the other Plan9's will also honour them. (Assuming they get Canada Plan9 working again any time soon?) I want to buy the threebook set, but living on disability means that I kind of have to go the cheapest route possible.. *Sigh*

I'm awfully sorry about that, Shady. I relayed the message about Plan 9's Canadian site as soon as you gave me the heads-up on it. I've not gotten a response from Plan 9 yet.

I wasn't even aware that the price has changed on the individual books until I visited the site this morning -- which is why I posted the alert on the new prices and the fact that people can still buy all three for the reduced price.

If I get an answer in the meantime, I'll pass it along as quickly as possible.

I didn't mean to sound like I was ranting at you Brad.. I was just grumpy on the issue and you cracked open the door.

Someone at Plan9 told Pete of Sluggy something about the Canadian site and that got posted on the Sluggy site.. but are all Webcomics who publish through Plan9 readers supposed to be Sluggy fans? Are all the webcomic ARTISTS supposed to be Sluggy fans to get answers? Seems kind of .. well, bad public relations.. to me.

I say we march down to PLan9 and slap them ALL with fish!
