gah. I have to make a tough judgement call here. Avacon, or sailing? Of course, an agglomeration of things have gotten in the way of my procuring cheap plane tickets to Toronto, so at this point, I'd have to drive from Chicago. OK, so it's a 2 day trip, if I stop to sleep along the way, which is probable. However, I'm not a rich man, so finding accommodations once I got there would be a bit of an issue, although I'm probably going to see about arranging things in advance (duh? good for me...), at least a hotel in Toronto. Any suggestions of cheap lodging from people would be appreciated, although I'll be busting out my mobil travel guide later this week.
So, the big question: road trip, or sailing? I can't make a good enough choice on my own, so help me out here...
------------------
That's just what we want you to think.

Hmmm... Mayhaps I'll have to make a drive to Toronto in 20 days.
Ya know, That'd be about the time for the Stanley Cup finals! Since we all know Toronto will be there, how abouts all the Avalon people head to a game. Like that plan Josh?
Put the gun down Josh...
------------------

It's getting down to crunch time, and we haven't really discussed the Avacon much... so I thought we could at least start a thread about it.
I guess an "official" Avalon convention -- separate from AN -- is out of the question at this point. However, I think we could stand to try to gather together all the Avalon-people for a little bit, and maybe even wreak some havoc. Lord knows Toronto could stand to have some havoc wreaked upon it.
If anyone has some good ideas for activities for us to do at AN, post them here. I had the idea of having some kind of Avalon dinner (maybe just getting a bunch of Lynchers into a McDonald's), but that might not be too feasible. But post your ideas here anyway.
JOSH.

Sorry you guys can't make it. Well, Usa and I will be there (well, we DO live in Toronto ). I dunno, I just assumed we would all group together and participate in some of the AN stuff (as well as wreak havoc ). Hmm, let me think this over after my exams end on May 9.
P.S., who else will be there? And should we meet at the entrance before AN begins its opening ceremonies?
[This message has been edited by Ucchan (edited 05-06-2001).]

Here's a link form the Anime North website that explains everything on group registration: http://www.animenorth.com/registration/group.html
One note: you have to pre-register for doing group registrations; you can't do it at the door. I don't know if the deadline for that has passed or hasn't expired yet, but you can e-mail them to ask about it. The e-mail to contact them is registration@animenorth.com
Hope this helps.

Maybe you could have regional Avalon conventions, at your convenience of course. I recomend Nashville, TN for the Southeast.

Well... I'm up in CT, so going to Canada isn't a really big deal for me, but it's not going to happen this year. Partly because I'll be starting by annual Traveler's job around them, partly because it's around the time that Erin and I are planning on going to Martha's Vineyard, partly because I haven't even brought it up to Erin. If it occurs again next year, though, I'd love to be there.

Well Ian, this may not be very helpful, but:
The more the merrier at the Con, but it's really up to you.
And Carson: that would be great! However, playoff tickets are difficult to acquire.
I know, I have tried ... Still, that's a neat idea!

Please... don't move Toronto to California. It's way too hot down there, and I'd probably melt/burst into flame.
I'll be at AnimeNorth, but I'll probably be doing my usual of lurking in the shadows.

No kidding it's difficult. Heck, when I went to a regular season game back at the Maple Leaf Gardens it was hard to get tickets for!
But I can still hope that I'll somehow beable to pick up a couple for atleast one Leafs Playoff Game
------------------

Neat, Carson!
Yeah, Usa and I went to a home game of the Leafs vs. the Devils, and it was sooo packed in Air Canada Centre! It took us a while to get them, but we did! And near the front to boot!
That would be a spiffy addition to the Con if feasible. Either way, I'm happy.
P.S. -> Usa and I are doing group registration at the door with other friends of ours.
