I was thinking more on the lines of actually breaching the fourth wall, y'know, actually in the world of Penny and Aggie, rather than a comic of you guys at a comic convention.

Have we thought about that? Not really. Would we do it? Only if we had a really good reason. All the easy metahumor jokes have been done.

What experiences did you have when you first started making comics? This is directed to both of you.

To expand on that a little more, instead of it being so general, how was it different then than it is now?Are you now where you thought you would be, say, five, ten years ago, or is some of "it" a surprise?

Okay, so, that's more than one question, but they're all really tied together and more for clarification on what I'm asking. ...Okay, 'Zipping it" now. :D

I started drawing pretty late...in my mid-twenties. Before that I was a musician and played in various venues/night clubs to pay the bills. Reading comics was my past-time while on the road gigging. One day I just decided that I loved comics so much, why not create some of my own! Bought books on anatomy and perspective and started learning. Realizing that it may take a while before I got good enough or acceptable, I studied graphic design so I could have something to fall back on. I've been juggling both jobs (graphic design and cartooning) since early 2000.

Career wise, I wish cartooning was my full time gig. If I keep at it, hopefully it'll happen one day. Artistically, I wish I was better (one's never happy) but all I can do for that is keep on drawing and experimenting :)

When I started doing "real" comics I had a five-to-ten-year project in mind and hadn't really thought far beyond that. I finished that project, and everything else has been a surprise!

what kind of music did you play Gisele? Want to shed any more light on the band you were in and any of those experiences?

I was part of a French-Quebec all-girl band. The style was commercial rock. We were active in the early nineties.

Here are some sample songs (I play bass guitar on all tracks):

Sample pics:

http://www.coolcatstudio.com/barbarella ... arella.jpg

I'm on the far right in the last pic (my hair straightened--I'm naturally curly.)

And just so I don't scare you off with my "poser" years, here's what I look like today:

As for experiences on the road, this could take a long reply. I have some TV interviews (1 in english I believe) and videos. I'll try and post some eventually.

Heh, and I've been sitting on this question for a few days...

Do any of the P&A characters play a musical instrument?

To clear up some of the confusion about Friday's (01/05/07) strip: did the prank shown in the last two panels actually happen, or was Aggie imagining/daydreaming it?

We all had a different vision for the band so it was best to part ways. One or two of the members are still playing in other bands but nothing serious (I think). The singer (the blonde) still gigs on a regular basis. I have a little music studio but I barely use it. It's there for fun :)

There's not much of our Barbarella on the web as the band was pre-internet. Here's a link about the album credits:

T would be best to answer this but I'd like to think that Lisa plays some kind of electrical instrument (it's how I see her). Penny, I would assume, has taken piano lessons. And it wouldn't surprise me that Tharqa plays the flute and drums.

We haven't really discussed this in details. T could give you a better answer :)

Since the new forum doesn't have one of these yet...

Gisele, have you ever checked the forum and found that people completely misinterpreted some expression/body language? Would you correct people (without being asked)?

Same to T about dialog.

Yes, I have, and no, I wouldn't.

Readers make the work what it is through their own interpretations. I'd rather risk the occasional miscommunication than disrespect that process.
