Yeah I would rather it be on PC as well.

It's a very unforgiving game, which is cool if you're into that.

I'm certainly looking forward to playing someday when it comes out on PC. My only info about it really is watching the Two Best Friends Play videos, but it looks pretty awesome

Soooooo is anyone a mechwarrior / battletech fan? I'm certainly looking forward to the mechwarrior online game. Really good that they're focusing on a SIM game rather than an action game. I've also recently got into the tabletop game (good god it can get complicated)

I remember stumbling around awkwardly in MW3 (did we try playing it online at some point?), and then playing MW4 for about an hour once it went free. I am looking forward to Hawken though. It seems less sim-y and more shoot-y, something I'm much better at.

Played it today. Crazy good.

It's oddly tense, because it's not a "zombie game", it's a social game in a zombie setting. You don't know if the people you meet are going to shoot you on sight, or if they're going to be useful. Or if they're going to seem useful and then shoot you in the back and steal your beans. You can't just run around willy nilly, because you'll draw a ton of attention from zombies and players, but you can't just hole yourself up in a house somewhere because you'll starve, dehydrate or just get discovered by better armed bandits.

It's such a fascinating concept. The whole no holds barred thing is refreshing and terrifying.

I found out about it a few days ago and was talking to Simmons about it he send me here. So I watched the whole series by CHKilroy seems pretty much like a proper version of Urban Dead. Perhaps its time for the CPM to return in triumphant glory?

This shootmania trailer looks pretty cool.
Given that it's the track mania people I'm guessing this is very much a game directed at 'fun' rather than anything else.

http://games.on.net/article/15701/Shoot ... ew_Trailer

I hope it's just a thing for like 10 bucks kinda game, that looks like a bit of fun at like a LAN or something but nothing too much further than that

I dunno, as fun as Trackmania is, it's also super competitive because there's no randomness to it, it's raw skill if you want to go that hard at it. Far too many games get caught up in complex features to remember to make the game fun.

It looks like Shootmania is taking the same approach and I'm looking rather forward to it. There needs to be a good competitive FPS, and I think the simplicity of Shootmania will really, really help that (Some 3v3 footage). I would gladly drop $30 (same price as Trackmania United) on something like this.

Also, we may or may not have scared everyone else off...

Yeah good point, we do seem to be dominating the forum at the moment. Have you played Tribes at all? It seems to have come a way since the beta and everything. Or is it still beta, I don't think so. Anyway, I'm still having loads of fun playing it even though I'm not very good. The movement seems to be the most important to me in just having a sense of freedom in being able to get around the map.

There's another game coming out, Nexuiz. I watched a couple videos about people playing the beta. The main impression that I got was that it's randomness seems to be ok for a bit of fun. But the movement is too slippery and the pickups are too random to make it a competitive game. That said they want to make it competitive so they're probably going to make a lot of changes, but it doesn't look anything special yet.

Heh. I have a few too many opinions about TA. I mostly got pissy at the lack of competitive scene and awfulness of most pub play, I ended up uninstalling after a particularly bad pub match.

Somewhere else I wrote: Pub is awful because, well, it's pub. You can't carry 15 people, you need at least 4 or 5 people that aren't complete mongoloids to have a chance at winning a game.
Structured play seems nice, but there's not enough people playing it here, can barely get pugs started, let alone proper matches.
Sidenotes: I think health regen is silly for Tribes. It makes it far too easy gain speed to cap and it basically breaks duelling completely. There is too much visual noise, maps appear to be designed for "prettiez" rather than gameplay. EXP prices are still a little large. No server files sucks. It's understandable why they've done it. It still sucks. Also no friendly fire. Just spam your own flagstand with mortars while your HOF sits in the middle of it. And still no demo functionality.
It's not completely awful. I appreciate Hi-Rez doing what they've done to try to bring a fast shooter back (even if they're a tad obnoxious about it). TA talks like Tribes with the spinfusor and jetpack, but it doesn't walk like it.

I believe Nexuiz came out a week or two ago and I heard the same things (from TotalBiscuit's Hyper WTF is with Zaccubus). It could be good, but without a strong release, it's not likely to have many players, especially in Aus.

Speaking of lack of players, I got into the beta of CS:GO, look for a match every other day and nothing. I've had one successful match and still, half the server was bots.

Should move to France or Sweden; Europe has a lot of people...

DayZ is amazing!... When I can be bothered waiting to get into servers. Most of the servers I get into are on some weird time zone so I spawn (and die soon after) in pitch black, I've still had some fun times though :P I haven't actually betrayed anyone yet... although I've been betrayed.

Yeah when I last played it there were only a few games of Nexuiz up, and I had some serious ping lol. Still a fun game but Totalbiscuit's WTF is raises some good points on why it won't flourish in the competitive scene (too much randomness/unpredictability) although I still enjoy it when I play it.

It's a bit ridiculous when you start though, the amount of shaders they put on by default make the game impossible to play. Motion blur/explosion blur/depth of field/bloom etc make it impossible to effectively fight the other team so I just had to turn everything down to low settings, little bit odd.

Didn't realise I needed to get the full version of arma II to play DayZ, oh well. In other news I reinstalled Age of Empires I and played a couple rounds. Good times. That and I never finished the main storyline in Skyrim, in fact I didnt get very far at all. I'm thinking I might start a new game with the hardest difficulty and see how long it takes just to finish the main quest. Steal some horses maybe :smug:
