I'm up for the social one. Dismissing it as a "shit idea" is pretty lame. I understand that it isn't very practically possible for anyone to go "hey, fuck the state" and then everyone lives in peace and harmony. However, more freedom for each separate region of countries and the gradual weakening of the state might be a good idea. The point remains that Anarchy will never exist or work in its "ideal" form, but it is not a shit idea just because of that.

So like, real communism, not that totalitarian bullshit people mistakenly call communism.
Why worry about the world ending today?

Which means that it's doomed to failure, because human nature doesn't work that way. I guess it's a good thought exercise, but people put way too much effort into supporting stuff like this.

It's shocking how many of our threads transgress into serious debates these days. Stop going off topic, cunts. :smug:

Anarchy is the only freedom.
It's the opposite of communism.
A minimal government is always good, but when government controls all, that's when things get shitty!

Individual anarchy is stupid, because some twatburger will rally people together to be the most powerful, pretty much starting the whole cycle again. Social anarchy a.k.a. communism is when every person is a perfect human being and work together essentially making one big government and when everyone is the government, NO-ONE IS THE GOVERNMENT. Lovely thought exercise, but as SoNeg said, humans are jerks.

But yeah, how about that Ben Folds Five, eh?

And that's why you need a minimal controlling government, that only interferes with someone fucking with someone elses rights, and freedoms.

So government has no at all power except to keep everyone on the leash?

I'd hate even the ideal form of anarchism/communism, no inequality, no competition, no challenge.
We would be passing time before we die, I guess I would be working all day to give to all according to their need, I suppose it could make me immune to the ennui.
Or maybe we could venture into space and hope we don't turn all of it into space communism.

None of this has anything to do with music.
So I've been listening to Final Fantasy Music all day. Awesome stuff. Listening to 7 right now.

Turning away from music right away, aren't chocobo the only thing tying the FF series together? They may as well have different names.
Hey look a new signature I wonder if anyone will notice ;)

I am not interested in a discussion where we think we talk about the same thing, but in reality we talk about completely different topics. It would be like me saying that ducking is pretty cool, and you saying that ducks are the worst creatures ever.

Thank you.

The problem is that making the transition over to such a government from the ones we already have would be fraught with an almost innumerable number of potential problems. Take, for example, law enforcement: most if not all governments in the world today reserve the exclusive right to use (direct) coercive force as a means of maintaining law and order. If the anarchic society eschews any form of 'coercive' government, does that mean it also has no justice/legal system with which it can protect its citizens from each other? If I take the above definition literally, it seems to suggest that people will basically be ideal citizens by virtue of the fact that they all want to be ideal citizens, which leaves no room for even the possibility that someone will, say, behave like an actual human being and break the law once in a while.

It's all a bit too speculative for me.

NOW MUSIC:

Hidden Orchestra have released their debut album recently, and it's awesome.
Royksopp released their 'Senior' LP the other day, and it is also awesome. No vocals in this album, mind you, and its pretty downtempo compared to most of their stuff.
