It sounds like a recording of some sort, if you turn your speakers right up you can hear a kind of beat.

The rest of his site works at least.
Thankfully I downloaded every single one of his flash movies on his site and on NG to help me through the Internetless time I'll be forced to go through while moving.
If only I could get those Ghost Spider comics and stuff; those were goddamn genuis.

Please dude? We'll keep them vaulted to ourselves until you die. Then we'll publish them and you'll be famous after death like Lovecraft or Van Gogh.

Van Gogh's not famous.

Van Gogh's not famous.

I'd beg to differ.

I don't actually know who Lovecraft is.

Whenever some douche smugly refers to Cthulhu, R'lyeh, Shoggoths or, hell, even Shub Niggurath (immortalised as the main boss in Quake 1 for some reason) they are referring to H.P. Lovecraft, and his so called Cthulhu Mythos. Cthulhu (usually pronounced Kuh-thoo-loo, or Kuh-too-loo if you prefer the Arabic pronunciation) is just one of several godlike beings that inhabit Lovecraft's alternate reality, sleeping for eons in an ancient evil city called R'lyeh, somewhere at the bottom of the ocean. The Mythos itself includes not only Cthulhu (or the popular story in which he features most prominently - 'The Call of Cthulhu'), but also all of Lovecraft's nasty creations. The key point that should be made here is that most of the entities in the Cthulhu Mythos are either incomprehensibly powerful, or so alien and weird as to transcend all human understanding. To them, humans are either prey, curiosities, obstacles or simply insignificant insects.

He's an extremely popular writer these days, having influenced a slew of famous horror/dark fantasy writers such as Clive Barker, Stephen King, John Carpenter and Robert E. Howard (the guy who created Conan). It has influenced a load of games too, like Alone in the Dark 1, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Quake 1, and even World of Warcraft. While he lived, however, basically from 1890 until 1940, he was scraping a living on his family's money and what little shit he could get published in the popular pulp fiction magazine 'Weird Tales'. His writing is pretty heavy going, using some pretty fucking archaic terminology, and his characters are never really what you'd call 'tough', but at the end of the day that's kind of the point - educated, softly spoken, white males being put in horrible situations and more often than not coming out much worse for wear/dead.

Having said all that, I definitely think you should check out some of his stuff. Luckily, it's all novella-length or shorter, and a lot of it is available on the net. 'The Call of Cthulhu' is an obvious starting point, but 'Shadow Over Innsmouth' (upon which the game Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is based) and 'Rats in the Walls' are also good. If you've got a lot of free time, 'The Case of Charles Dexter Ward' or 'At the Mountains of Madness' are good, but a bit hard to read at points.

Right. Let me preempt you: tl;dr.

I have complete faith in two things: Zombies and Ed Fatlin.

Ed and I haven't talked in a few ages, but yeah, he showed me the idea for "Igloo" a whiles back and it's turning out way more awesome than he explained. I attempted to land the role of Pelligrino *IF* it were to be animated, but, eh. I can only do certain girl voices. Plus I suck.

Good work, Ed. Keep it up. Succeed where I constantly thoroughly fail, homeslice.

I had no idea Gobolatula made Erik the Juiceman... I always imagined the author as an angry and possibly crazy person.
