Guess the Caption Contest #7: 3-18-05

Postby Pupkin on Fri Mar 18, 2005 1:59 am

When you vote for "Pupkin" on buzzcomix.net you see a preview of a future "Pupkin" comic, which shows the full art, but without the text at the bottom. I change the preview every time there's a new "Pupkin" strip (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), and you can guess the caption and win a prize! You could even win $1 million. But you won't.

HOW TO PLAY

Go see the preview strip, then come back to this thread and write your own caption for it!

PRIZES

#1 -- My favorite caption will win an original Pupkin sketch, which I'll mail out to you!

#2 -- If you somehow magically guess the caption exactly as I wrote it, I'll give you $1 million.

#3 -- If I love your caption a crazy ton, I might decide to actually throw out mine and use yours instead for the strip when it appears online! I'll give you full credit as co-writer of the strip in my commentary.

RULES

You have one week to enter the "favorite caption/win a sketch" contest (#1 prize above) before I pick a winner, and for the #2 and #3 prizes you have until I post those strips online of course. The deadline for prize #1 is 11:59 p.m. Mountain time on Thursday, March 24.

-------

Today's preview comic is one of my favorites. I bet you don't know what Pupkin's really doing!

UPDATE: The preview has changed, so this is what it was for this contest . . .

"The round orange dog later felt really bad when he found out that the man he had been secretly giving the candy bar to was diabetic. Why was it that whenever Pupkin tried to help some one, he only ended up hurting them?"

It is not about winning, for me. It's about having fun, and making myself laugh.

Oh, I know, but what's fun for me is telling people that they'll win or lose, even if they don't care! Don't take away my joy!

From now on, I promise to pretend to care about winning.

How can you declare me to have already lost, when no one else has entered? I demand a recount, in the least Al Gore-like manner that is possible.

"The round orange dog always loved renting from the 'Candan RV Rentals' company, so he sneakily borrowed the flier from a girl."

"Pupkin is a dirty, smelly, low-down thief"

So do I win, or what?

I didn't -- I said I "don't think you'll win." You still might.

I like the other entries, especially J's again. He's pretty good at this.

Guess:

"The round orange dog liked to secretly put candy bars in the pockets of homeless people."

Alternate caption:

"The round orange dog found joy in touching other people's candy with his dirty paws."

Really bad movie I saw this week:

"The Chronicles of Riddick"

Fair enough.

Back to recovering from having my wisdom teeth pulled, and playing Centipede on my Nintendo DS.

Ha, 24 hours has turned into four months, and also never. Well, maybe I'll do it one day, who knows. Thank you for loving "Pupkin."
