True, this was a surprise.

But... our Host had better be careful not to fall into the land of overused cliche's. Pregnancy-as-plot-device has been done a variety of different ways, so caution is required.

On the other hand, this will result in a shake-up at the office. Max may find himself temporarily running two businesses because both owners are out on parental leave.

I was thinking the same. I wonder what would the relation work if Max suddenly becomes Alli's boss.

If he has any common sense, he won't try to control her, beyond meeting printing deadlines. Alli would pulverize him if he tried. Max doesn't want to run the comic press; he's made that pretty clear.
