Anybody else here have a Toyota Matrix?

If so, do you have any idea how to switch off the passenger side airbag? We just bought one and it SEEMS that there should be a way to shut it off (not safe to have the airbag active with a kiddo sitting in that seat), but we can't find any way to deactivate it.
Whatever.

I don't know about your car, but on my mom's Fiat Uno the lock is accessible once the door is open...

Don't you have the instructions booklet?

The manual doesn't mention it, unfortunately.

This sounds like it turns it on and off automatically by sensing the size and weight of the person sitting on the seat. (Look on pages 19-20.)

Does that help?

This should guide you. The Matrix does not have an on-off switch for the passenger airbag. Infants must ride in the back seat. :(

I wasn't allowed to ride in the front of the car till I was twelve years old and even then, I didn't get much chance to do so. Grr :?

The front passenger side is the worst place in a car to sit. If the vehicle is involved in a collision, the driver will instinctively swerve to avoid much damage to themselves thus exposing the passenger side.

Well, as it is, His Royal Shortness has to sit in the back, because we can't shut off that airbag - and he's feeling rather perturbed by it.
Whatever.
