I've had both Root Beer and Ginger Beer. Perhaps I can best describe my experience with the following chart:

Root Beer = Hearty, woody, yet sweet and distinctive flavor that reminds one of long, lazy afternoons spent in a sweet mountain glade on a dock to a lake, with fishing lines cast into the lake even though you know there's no fish in the lake even if you've never been to a sweet mountain glade on a dock to a lake, with fishing lines cast into the lake even though you know there's no fish in the lake.

Ginger Beer = Bitter and nasty

It's simple really.

Hmm you forgot Birch beer.

Birch Beer a sharp cold taste it immediately wakes up your taste buds. As you are now feeling refreshed you begin to enjoy being in that cabin year round.

Well I've always found it would depend on the quality of the ginger beer,

Since we Brits lump it together cheapo stuff is how HomerNet put it. wheareas the quality stuff, HomerNet described it as root beer.

I also like Dandelion and Burdock. (Very rare, so the stuff you do come across is usually quality)

Never heard of 'em, sorry. I suppose I could have gotten some "skunky" gingerbeer, though.

Visit http://www.fentimans.com. Brews high quality soft-drinks.

However if you had ginger beer elsewhere than Britain, you should have gone for root beer... (They divide by quality. Root beer only uses root. Ginger can use other parts.)

GAH!

*Zaps everyone with reverse to normal "real-life" form*

Sorry, been checking out other TF comics and only finding ONE that suits my tastes (other than EGS). The others sucked the funny out of me today.

Damn philosophicalness in half of them, complicated surgury in the other half, nudity or penis jokes in most, etc...

Yeah, I've had my fill of them, too. Did you try Misfile and The Wotch? A bit of downer-ness in those, but nothing that doesn't further the story.

From the lab of transformityness.

Now here's why I am a tad upset and disappointed.

The transexual/transformation element is supposed to be either funny or trying to make a point about civil rights/gay rights/accepentance/tolerance.

You cannot combine the two and expect a flawless seam to be formed. After going through about 10 or so TF/TG comics, I have only found two (three if you count the Ranma 1/2 magna) that are good. EGS and The Wotch (discovered recently from a fourm post). While other websites are informative, trying to make jokes about the topic when it is DESIGNED on the comic to be a serious one just rubs off the wrong way. I have no problem with transexuals, I have been interested in the subject since I was six. One of my favorite points on one of the sites was that pretty much everyone is the same sexually until several weeks in the womb have passed. But I still can't see humor and a serious subject like this mixing in the way shown in several of the comics.

Steals the lead, which had been lying neglected amongst the empty drinks cans.

The only time I had root beer was on an American-run RAF airbase (in the UK). I thought it tasted like bicarbonate of soda toothpaste. There's a difference between ginger beer and ginger ale too (ale is drier), but it seems like most of the stuff you get in the shops is "American style", so I've really very little idea what traditional ginger beer tastes like (the kind the famous five drank).

JJA: Did you try http://www.transe-generation.com ? Definitely not angsty, but mainly penis jokes and stuff on that level. Also, I think Venus Envy generally manages to combine serious and funny, but I guess it's a taste thing.

Here's the joke, which I'll probably ruin, since I'm no good at telling them.

The scout runs up to the officer. "Sir, a squad of troops are coming this way!"
"Bring me my red shirt."

(They proceed to win the battle.)

Scout runs up to officer. "Sir, two hundred soldiers are coming this way!"
"Bring me my red shirt."
"..Sir, why?"
"This way, if I get shot, my troops won't be demoralized by seeing their officer wounded."
"Inspiring, sir."

(They proceed to win the battle.)

Scout runs up to officer. "Sir, three legions of infantry and a tank battalion are coming this way! What should I do?"
Officer: "Bring me my brown pants!"
