(Moved from here)

Final Fantasy: The War of the Dragons

As the story goes, the Warriors of Light had defeated Chaos and restored peace and harmony to the land of Melmond. However, could the essence of Chaos ever really be defeated? Not on yours, or anyone else's, lives. As the Warriors of light struck their final blows against Chaos, and he was dragged into the Gate of Light, he sent his essence into the four warriors, living on through them and their lineage.

For many a year, peace reigned over the land and, for a time, everyone was happy. Villages prospered, poverty was abolished, and racism forgotten. Things were truly looking up...

Until the Dragons emerged.

For as far back as anyone could remember, Dragons had been a mythical race, said to have aided the legendary Light Warriors in their quest to rid the world of evil. These Dragons were nothing like those spoken of in the lore of old. These Dragons were vile creatures, bent on the destruction of the world. Heralded by the resurrection of Tiamat, who brought with her a dark cloud that shrouded the world in darkness, the Black, Blue, Green, Red and White Dragons, did just that. In the matter of one day, these monstrous beings turned generations of peace and prosperity into rubble. Every town was either destroyed, or badly damaged by the dragons. Deciding that it would be for the best, and that there would be safety in numbers, every person that could fled to Cornelia. Getting there however, was a tremendous threat to ones life. For along with the resurrection of Tiamat, a creature known only the Leviathan had also emerged into the world of the living. The seas raged with his anger and caused ships to capsize. It would also hunt out unfortunate ships to be his next meal, so it was thus decreed that boat travel was far too dangerous.

Though, these events did not go unnoticed.

As the world was being ravaged by the great Chromatic Dragons, Bahamut and the Metallic Dragons stepped in and attempted to put a stop to all of this mindless bloodshed. Dragon against Dragon, their battle waged for a great period of time. However, in the end, the Metallic Dragons were defeated and forced to retreat. Badly injured, and with their pride shattered, they fled back to the Dragon caves, east of Onrac.

Having defeated their greatest adversaries, the Chromatic Dragons were truly the new rulers of Melmond. As such, they quickly divided up the world and built their lairs to rule from, under the guidance of Queen Tiamat.

The Black Dragon made his lair in the Marsh Cave.

The Blue Dragon made her lair in Mirage Tower.

The Green Dragon made his lair in the Waterfall Cave.

The Red Dragon made his lair in Gurgu Volcano.

The White Dragon made her lair in the Ice Cavern.

and Tiamat once again resided within her Floating Castle.

However bleak the people's situation looked, they still had hope in a prophecy. Once again told by Lukahn, it is said that once again four noble souls will rise up against the wickedness of the Dragons that oppress the land, and it's people.

A long time passed... The people waited, and it seemed as though Lukahns prophecy was merely foretold to give the people false hope. But at last, four young souls did emerge from the lands of Melmond, each a descendent of the fabled Light Warriors of old. Now brimming with the hope bestowed upon them by the new heroes of Melmond, the people welcome them into the town of Cornelia. There, King Cornelia XII, Lukahn's descendant, as well as Cid's descendant begin to discuss their mission against all odds.

And so their journey begins.

The available classes are those from the first game. That is to say, there are Warrior, Thief, Monk, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage to pick from. Also, I'm going to limit the age range from any to between 17 and 18. Characters must be human. Here is a link to all the maps in the game.

so this takes place after the main game, interesting. i'm going to rework my back story to fit with now being from Melmond and give him a reason to go to the king of Cornelia.

If you tell me how the magic works, I probably will make a character for this.

hows this for a bio

Name: "rat" (he is self named and not very imaginative)
Age: 18
Class: thief
Height: 5'8"
Weight: thin
Hair color: light gray
Eye color: green
Birthplace: Melmond
Alignment: lawful good
Appearance: he is a short thin man who always wearing a cloak. Hidden under the hood is a blank gray mask three lines drawn on each side that resemble whiskers. he is rather pale and has gray hair both evidence of his life of hiding in the shadows
Equipment: cloak with hood (also known as cloth armor), mask, knife
Strengths: stealth and pickpocketing
Weaknesses: he is not very strong and has no magic ability
History: he grew up on the streets, living every day off what little food he could steal. Even though he was a thief he still had a code of honour which was one, never steal more then you needed and two never kill unless you have to. he took to wearing a mask under his hood whenever he went in to town to hide his face from the guards, who have a hate on for him. (probably cause he keeps stealing there sweet rolls). When the time came to go to the king he left with his mask in his sack ready to take on the world, and maybe take a cut of it for himself.

White magic has priority over all other actions that take place in combat, and black magic always goes after the first enemy action. Also, I'll be determining when you will learning new spells and either i'll be using charges or just mp (I'll take a group vote)

Doesn't look much different, but still approved.

I'm working on modifying Sev's backstory, and I'm thinking of making him a white magic user. Or should it stay black magic?

Well, We've got a thief and a black belt (presumably). Both have pretty low defence, but the black belt has wonderful attack, and the thief will be dodging like crazy, and can strike quickly. Personally, I think every team should have a white mage, but that's just me. Black Mage is great to have when encountering multiple enemies, as they can target them all with a single spell.

Also, should I just go back to the old thread, give it this title, and edit the story to the first post of this thread? I know it's confusing, but that might work better. Just food for thought.

How attached are you to the specific game mechanics? I've got a concept, but it's gonna need some wiggle room.

... On that thought, if we don't have any wiggle room, how meta are we playin' it?

Let's see how in-depth you can describe this concept of yours.

Name: deLain the Viridian
Job: "Green Mage" (Red Mage)
Birthplace: Melmond

DeLain is peculiar, even among the often insane red mages; he is a pacifist (or so he claims). He carries no weapons with edges, preferring tools with uses outside of combat, mainly staves and hammers. He completely eschews direct application of the eight elements as ways of doing harm. If Black magic destroys, and White magic creates, then "Green magic" is a tool of change, so deLain reasons. Faster, slower; stronger, weaker; bigger, smaller. Better. Worse. This is the path of the Green Mage. However, that a creature could die from the poison magic he inflicts or be slain by a warrior he enhances is an idea lost on deLain and his "pacifist vow". After all, he did nothing to destroy, only change.

Fairly interesting back story CC. Any chance of getting the rest of the sheet?

Just wanted to make sure the concept was kosher first, since I may be asking for spells either that aren't in the first game, or that Red Mages don't normally get in the first game (like Regen or Poison and other low-level buffs/debuffs or RUSE and FEAR for general purpose illusions).

The list of all magic spells in FF1. If you would like, this goes for the rest of the group as well, you may replace spells with other spells of the same level from different final fantasy games. Within reason of course.

My only guess is that people lost interest and the fact that there wasn't enough players. Not to say that I couldn't just put in an couple npc support characters for you guys...

I started this game in real life last saturday with my role play group, that's what I mentioned in the other thread. However, I can always get one more player and run a two/three player game with myself included if you so wish, since you're like the only one still interested.

God of Awesome seems to be... uninterested in coming back to such an inactive message board.

However, this does not stop us from roaming about the land with two players and a DM. Still interested?
