Contest : SPOT THE FUCK UPS! Closed for new entries

It's The Odd Couple, but with a reanimated chunk of beef and lots of swearing. But it comes with your very own hug machine to make you feel loved!

Alison my editor must have been asleep at the switch on that one!

Usually she catches things like that.

Hello!

I'm not doing this for the contest (which I was oblivious to), I'm just doing it so you are aware of these possible errors...

#25, Wed, October 1, 2003
The last panel, Joel says "Appels" and not "apples."

#41, Wed, November 19, 2003
(possibly just an ironic statement) Joel says "TWO abominations is THREE too many!"

#100, Mon, June 7, 2004
(not really an error, I just thought it was funny)

#213, Mon, March 14 2005
The last panel- Did you really mean "Ponce" and not "Prince?" That was just weird to me.

#231, Mon, May 2, 2005
Last panel- Earlier you spelled the nick-name his mother calls him DamiE-kins, this time, there was no "e." (you did say to be nit-picky...)

#250, #260, #261, & #262
Joel's biking shirt changes from yellow with a design on it to red with green sleeves.

#256 Fri, July 1, 2005
The "Powered by Beer" shirt did not have a beer mug on it in earlier comics. :p :)

Well, that's all I could spot. sorry. ^^ bye!

Late Findings

Postby livewire on Fri Sep 02, 2005 5:32 pm

So I couldn't get my account reactivated before the contest ended, but I spotted a few that haven't been mentioned:

Strip 251-252 - 06/20-22/2005
Not to be really picky, but it's spelled "vacuum," not "vaccuum" (I do the same thing all the time).

Strip 254 - 06/27/2005 - World Wide Friends
In the second panel, Beefsteak says (4th line) "...helped me with the hand questions," instead of "...helped me with the hard questions."

Strip 255 - 06/29/2005 - Offal Attraction
In the last panel, Damian says, "What am I Hell talking about?" Instead, I believe it should be "What the Hell am I talking about?"

Strip 271 - 08/10/2005 - *SQUEEEE!*
I'm not sure... This may be on purpose, but Damian says he'll read Harry Potter "back to front," rater than "front to back," but whatever.

That's all for now...

Marvel-Comics style explanations follow:

251-252: Enh...Scrubs is a scientist. Their association with standard grammar and spelling is casual at best.

254: Beefsteak can operate a mouse for clickies, but he can't type (no hands), hence, the need for help with the "hand" questions.

255: Damian was very confused.

271: I'm guessing it was on purpose. I know a lot of people who read back to front on Harry Potter just because the "latest twist" buzz gets to them. These are the same people who read the last chapter of a mystery and buy the Prima guide to every game before playing on their own.
The savior of billions (Norman Borlaug) dying barely rated a mention in the news this year. Farrah Fawcett wore a bikini well back in the 70s and she got international coverage. Good job, society.

#313 - Fourth Panel - It's spelled "nickel"
#315 - Fourth Panel - Should be "...the pirate's natural enemy"

...with a grammar nazi like me, there will be no more contests! Jawohl!

Here it is :

Spot the Fuck ups! I'm making my comics ready for book publication. Which means I should fix all the typos, art mistakes, (missing choker on Mary, background fill screwups, etc) and general snafus in the comics. Here are the details :

1) The mistakes need to be in the comics themselves. Mistakes in the rants won't count because they aren't going in the book. (Although some comics will be annotated.)

2) All mistakes need to be presented in this format :

Strip Number - mm/dd/yyyy - Description

For instance :

Strip 234 - 05/09/2005 - Damian's moustache is missing in 4th panel.

Please include panels affected by the mistake. (No, you can't use that one as the comic isn't going to be in the book!) To find the date for a strip, just look at the rant below or look at the file name in your URL bar. It follows the format of YYYYMMDD.html in the url bar. One mistake to a line, please!

3) Submit multiple mistakes in a single comic seperately. That will improve your odds of winning as whoever gets the most mistakes wins the prize! So if you spot 3 typos, make sure you put them on seperate lines.

4) Somethings that might be viewed as a mistake are actually intentional, such as paintings 'changing' from panel to panel or a particular grammatical error in what somebody is saying. Submit whatever you think is an error, but just know that it might not make the official list.

5) ONLY ONE SUBMISSION! Make sure you grab all the mistakes you can right off the bat. I won't have time to add every correction to your list as you mail in the mistake you missed. So be thorough! Please don't send multiple entries through different e-mail addresses, either. If I find out you did, I'll have to throw out all your entries. It's just not fair to other readers to try and win multiple prizes, eh?

6) Only comics #1 - #220 will be in the book, so only errors on those comics will be accepted for the contest. (Errors for strips past 220 are appreciated, though! I should fix them as I fix the other comics anyway!)

7) Prizes will be determined by who spots the most errors. Ties will be determined by the order in which the entries were recieved. The prizes are as follows :

1st) A signed book, T-shirt, and a watercolored character of your choice.
2nd) A signed book, T-shirt, and a character sketch of your choice.
3rd ) A signed book and character sketch.

8) Entries must be mailed to scrubbo@gmail.com with the title 'Filthy Lies Contest' in the subject line. Entries should have your e-mail included in the text of the message, as well as your name and a shipping address.

9) All entries must be recieved by Midnight June 30th. I'll announce the winner as soon as I can afterwards. (Depends on how many entries I get, now doesn't it?)

10) If you're related to me, you can't win. But you can still e-mail mistakes in an attempt to mock me until I cry.

11) If you're dating me, you can't win. But I will bake you cookies.

12) You can only win one prize. Didn't I say that above? :) You silly buggers!

Thanks! And good luck!

Update :
Thanks guys! You did a great job! I'm finishing compiling the list and should have winners announced by the end of the month... and hopefully I'll have the book finished then too! Then I need to print.... and ... uh... yah. It'll be awhile before you get the books, but they're coming!

Friday, April 8, 2005, Comic #223, pannel 2 - "I NEED YOUR SERVICES TO LOCATE MY MY MISSING BROTHER" - She says my twice in a row there, that's a definate typo though i realise that doesn't get me a book... it should though... *sulk*

I realise this is long over but one can only try:

29/09/2003

First panel:
Joel: it says it is a sin to lie with a mas as with a woman

Third Panel:
Damian: ...not 'chattle' nor should they be treated like such...

English was never my strong suit, so these may be words I've never heard of. But anyway.

In theory, yes. And when I get the damn book done, I'll be sending out the free copy.

I'm such a lazy, lazy cartoonist. LAZY!
