True cross? (2nd Aug)

Postby HiFranc on Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:12 am

Given the angel and Wald's conscience, is Jubal's bed made out of pieces of the True Cross?

Ps.
Who is that woman with them?

I think Paul's concept here is that it does not matter what cross you have. It is the belief( your belief) that matters the most. The power of God manifests through your heart and thoughts, not through the item that you hold in your hand.

A subtle poke at the many commercialisation of religions, and the materialism now associated with them.

Ergo, a Church of Wood is no less faithful than a Church of Gold.

Paul chose the bed because it is something close to his heart, enabling him to anchor his beliefs to it more easily. Were he to use some other object, the element of doubt within him would have been greater.

And yes, I would like to know if I missed a memo somewhere. Who is that girl?

I had hope that my own theory of defeat by sheer belief was plausible (mainly because I can't see them realistically finding an actual, stable piece of the True Cross, much less one large enough to make a stake out of). If that turns out to be the case (there's always room for a twist--or failure), the only problem now would be getting Chelsea to believe in the chosen "cross." At least, I thought Lilith said only Chelsea could kill Drac. I could be getting confused...

At first, I thought it was the woman with Sarah and Harris who could sense magickal/psychic connections and create portals... but no. The hair (and demeanor) remind me of a certain wood nymph from Melpomene... yeah, I got the CD. Maybe Mel just has certain people at her disposal, like the doctor... but how did Paul know about her?

EDIT: I just realized that she could have come with Van Helsing (I'll have to look for the page later) who told Paul about her abilities. (In the event of an emergency?)

This doesn't exactly tell you who she is, but she has appeared before. Take a look at this comic. http://clanofthecats.com/d/20060717.html.

If you read Melpomene: The Chaos Orb, or bought the CD (which has Chaos Orb on it) then you should have a hint as to who the woman is. Hint: She's the only other woman in Mel's bedroom.

Take care,

Ah. That was going to be my second guess. (Seriously! I guess the hair just struck me as more the color of the wood nymph at first...) But I still don't get how Jubal (yes, I goofed on who knew what) knew who she was and what she could do. Mel doesn't seem like the type to give out helpful hints, even to her soon-to-be brother in law...

And if they're in Paul's house, whereas it was Ruth's house that Wald had to get into, is paul saying that the "affecting belief" extends to indivudals as well as objects? Or I'm just confused. Again.

Remember, Jubal did share souls w/ Chelsea.

Granted, if you were reading this as a graphic novel it probably wouldn't be quite as confusing. ;)

Even as a graphic novel, I'd most likely still miss the fact that Chelsea's had the opportunity to meet more of Mel's house-guests than just "visitors" such as Lilith and the were-bull... :nervous: It also took me a good while to realize that Jubal could have simply been approached earlier and engaged in brief conversation...

I wonder if Mel will be ticked with several different people, on several different levels, by the time this little episode is finished?

Mystery Lady revealed! http://clanofthecats.com/d/20060717.html!

If you don't see a change in the dialogue, refresh your browser.

I was going over some plot elements w/ a friend last night and she said she was confused as well. So, w/ that many people so confused, I changed the dialoge.

Take care,

Jamie

Ah, thank you. The first change makes it clear.

I wonder if the second is not over the top though? Certainly Paul comes across differently, though I suppose that may have something to do with Beige's secret power. So, I suppose it works. It's different, but it works. 8)

Well, that will certainly help confused readers... especially now that Sidhekin's let them know exactly where to look. ;)

My main point of confusion was actually the second panel... but I figured we'd learn soon enough. (Such as, Leander referring to needing to find a different way--underground tunnel?--back into the nest if Dracula blocked off their original point of entry.)

Is it just me, or are there fewer sparkles in at least the first panel? (At first, I thought they were being portaled... but then realized the sparkles are in every panel--magick radiating from Sebo?)
