Foreign Affairs minister Maxime Bernier resigned when it was revealed he had left top-secret NATO documents in the home of his ex-girlfriend, who has ties to the Hells Angels. Replacing Mr. Bernier temporarily is International Trade Minister David Emerson. I smell a cabinet shuffle...

The official portrait of former Prime Minister Joe Clark was unveiled on Parliament Hill.

PM Chief of Staff Ian Brodie retiring June 30.

Some milestones in 2008:
50th anniversary of Canadian Tire money
100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint
Birth centennial of famous photographer Yosuf Karsh
250th anniversary of the Conquest of Louisbourg
400th anniversary of the establishment of Quebec City
425th anniversary of St. Johns, Newfoundland.
And there you have it.

As mentioned on the Colbert Report, CBC has lost the rights to the theme song for Hockey Night in Canada. It was bought by CTV, which will play on its sports channel, TSN. CBC has announced a contest with a $100000 prize for a new one.

Cabinet Shuffle: Emerson made permanent Minister of Foreign Affairs. Michael Fortier made Minister of International Trade. Christian Paradis is the new Minister of Public Works. Newcomer junoir minister James Moore (Port Moody--Westwood--Port Coquitlam, BC) made Secretary of State (Official Languages) (Pacific Gateway) (2010 Vancouver Olympics).

Journalist, diplomat, patron and scion of Southam family of press barons Hamilton Southam dead at 91. Was largely responsible for the construction of the National Arts Centre and the Canadian War Museum.

Big party in Quebec City July 3 as the city marked the 400th anniversary of its founding by Samuel de Champlain in 1608. The core of the city, the capital of Quebec province, is the only walled city in North America and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Major controversy involving the Order of Canada as abortion activist and Holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Morgenthaler inducted to Order. Several have given notice of intent to return their medals in protest. Also inducted were former Prime Minister Kim Campbell, newscaster Peter Mansbridge, labour leader Buzz Hargrove and Guess Who frontman Randy Bachman.

PS: I looked back at the Dominion Day '07 strip, and saw that apparently Fairplay did not know about Medicare. This is rather odd, as every Canadian knows to lord over Americans about this at every chance they get, doubly so for a Liberal or New Democrat, as Fairplay seems to be. Also, Medicare doesn't cover prescription meds.
And there you have it.

The holding company that owns that owns Lord & Taylor has bought out the Hudson's Bay Company, owners of the Bay, Zeller's, Home Outfitters and Fields. The Company of Gentlemen Adventurers Trading into Hudson's Bay was founded on May 2, 1670, by King Charles II, and given all of the Hudson Bay drainage basin to trade furs in. It sold the land to Canada in 1869. At 338 years old, it is the oldest retail chain in the world.

Why do you seem so hellbent on making a thread that no one cares about, in a forum that no one, including the creators of Sorethumbs, reads?
The writers are writers, if they need information on a political event they'll get it themselves.
Besides, the joke about the comic is entirely American culture and politics.
Have you listened to some of your posts? Canada is, well, boring. It's not that bad, but it's boring.
America is more interesting because it's going through an election with the first black man versus an oldman and his VP psycho milf, it has a current vice president who shoots elderly and has them apologise, drunken celebrities, and...well...it's interesting.
I'm not saying Canada is a loser country that's a joke to be in, I'm just saying that it's like Velma from scooby doo. Plain, quiet, and bland. And America is like Daphne, colorful, loud, and always the center of attention.
So, Velma, please.
Pull the plug, and give this thread a merciful death, and bury it in an unmarked grave. {:3

Rarely in the history of the Internet does one find a forum post so polite, succinct, and well thought-out. And so I must concur. I have found another, more appreciative forum, and so am bound for greener screenshots. As of October 14, 2008, after 1 year, 11 months, and 6 days, I declare this forum ended.

And here is my last bit of news:

Today is the 40th federal election. The first polls close at 7 pm EST (in Newfoundland) and the last close at 10 pm EST (in BC and Yukon). The race looks really tight, and you can find all news at cbc.ca/canadavotes. Also, I'll be posting analysis of the results at idrewthis.org (my user name's Jeremy).

Thanks for reading,
~J.

P.S. Tell effovex I said hi if you see him.

Littlest Lurker, that's not how lurking is supposed to be done. Sheesh. More like worstest lurker on account of you not being very good at lurking.

The only good thing about drunk American celebrities is that it gives everybody in other countries a quick and easy way to assess their media. The quality of a news program is inversely proportional to the amount of screen time it gives to such topics.

People have been asking him that since the beginning. I don't think we will ever get the answer to that. I still suspect he is some kind of propaganda bot.
