WAUGH! Huh! Good Lord, y'all, what is it good for? Absolutely nothin', say it again!

Well, that was the first thing I thought of.

Not hearing the call to go home early has happened to me too, but not because I wasn't paying attention. Because I work in a climate-controlled computer room which is pretty much soundproofed from the office outside.

Aaah!

My old boss used to do that whenever there was a dip in demand, tell everyone he was sending a person or two home early.

Of course, then he dumped on whoever agreed to leave first if they didn't take pains to express proper regret for having to depart our, oh so happy, workplace.
Did we not enjoy our jobs!? Couldn't we use the extra money of a few more hours' pay?

So irritating!

I'm so happy I don't actually work in a call center any more. Now I work at a local isp where I'm one of 4 people in the tech support dept.

I'd so much rather take a tech call and explain something to some idiot that doesn't know a router from an OS than to deal with billing issues. You think people are pissed off when their electronics don't work? Wait till they want their money back for some reason or another, and it's against policy for their situation to give it to em.
