NEW AUCTION

Postby Aeire on Thu Mar 18, 2004 7:54 am

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Ever wanted my old glasses? Go take a look - also included is a CoA with a character sketch on it. Besides, THE AUCTION LISTING IS AMUSING. GO LOOK AND BE AMUSED.

Hehehehe, I never thought you could actualy make free ADS on ebay, like the link you made for QoW.

*continue readind*

NO WAIt, you actulay make a drawing for buying those glasses?? What will be the medium, size and frame? I could be interested... IN THE GLASSES OF COURSE! ... But  still interested

*continue reading while thinking if he should erase the last paragraph "YOU DON'T HAVE MONEY OLD TANKUS" anyway still reading*

AAAWWWW cute bunny with a "not so sure if its alive" chibi!!

Anyway, I could barely know why people would buy these glasses... Yet again not for the beauty of it, but for the fat its made for someone who cannot get upstairs without it. (kidding aeire, I love you !! :D )

::gets a dark creepy look in his eyez::

Must have a piece of Aeire...yesss...

(Yes, I'm kidding...though it would look creepy if I decided to bid. Though it would be much like a Donation, with a nifty thank you gift.)

I bid because I am silly. Auction is silly, and bidding for it is silly.

Very, very interesting. One finds that to be the most amusing auction listing I've ever read...not that I've read that many. That poor sad little bunny almost tempted me to bid until I remembered I don't have any extra money right now.

Aeire?

I love you, but this has to be the ultimate expression of "sellout", or dollar whore.
Was this your idea?

Otoh, my brother always said, "If you got it, sell it! Whatever it is, someone will buy it."
He would applaud you for this.
*shrug* Who am I to argue?

Currently the bid is $43. Proof of my brother's wisdom...and your success.

I'm sure your glasses will make someone very happy.

Sellout?!? I hate that term. It's oft used by the young and inexperienced. Don't feel bad. I used to throw that term around a lot, until figured out that there is nothing wrong with people selling things that other will buy, so long as no laws are broken.

Are recording artists "selling out" when they allow their music used in an advertisement? I think not. They have something that advertisers find valuable. I think they are smart, not sellouts.

Well done, Aeire! You, too, are a good capitalist!

Well, Aerie, the world needs more (evilly) funny women and you need money. A quid pro quo is in order.

You know, as soon as you say the word 'but', ANYTIME you say the word 'but', you should double-check whatever you're going to say next, because it's apt to be highly offensive or insulting.

What'd I tell ya.

Starlock wrote:Was this your idea?

No. When I posted about getting new glasses in the LJ community, a few readers suggested I sell the old ones on Ebay. Frankly, the idea of people paying money for my crappy old glasses didn't appeal - however, people paying money for an original sketch is okay, because at least they're *getting* something out of it. And as my 'real' job is taking a turn for the worse in the 'gee, I wonder if my paycheck is going to bounce this month' kind of way, any extra money I can get for art and comic supplies is sorely needed. Donations have been on the few-and-far-between side lately, and I'd rather people *get* something if they're going to throw money at me than just donate anyway. My old glasses aren't worth shit, however a CoA with a sketch on it *is*. That's what they're bidding on - the chance to get a character sketch. And right now, $45 is a little on the low end for what I usually get for original art, but I'm not complaining - it'll get me more inking pens, which I need.

Yeah, that's real polite there.

Anyone else want to make any disparaging comments? Because between work and everything else, I'm getting really tired of it.

Aeire, if it helps, you're in my thoughts and I would send you donations if I had any money to my name...there are downsides to being a broke ass college student...sorry.

Thanks, Jeffro - but like I said, I'd prefer selling stuff to donations right now anyway. I'm working on another limited print run at the moment, and there will be posters available sometime next month as well from Warehouse 23.

Ayup. If I had money I'd be bidding on the glasses/sketch. (even if only because of the awesome way the auction was presented. Okay fine.. so having the character of my choice (Kestrel or Angela) calling me nasty names would be fun too..)

Onto another topic.. I remember not long ago an announcement from Randy over at S*P saying that when reading emails, any time he saw something like "I don't mean to offend, but.." and other but's.. he'd just delete it and move on. If you're getting a lot of annoying crap like that, I suggest doing the same. And for instances on these forums.. just skip them.

I love how people refer to capitalism as if it's a bad thing.

Give me more capitalism, and more capital. I've got rent to pay.

Wow... how often has that happened to you? So far I've only seen it happen to a former coworker.

If that happened to me, I dunno... I'd probably try to find a way to snake some spycams in a neighbor's apartment and create a nice new webcam site. They're doing the most wonderful things with wireless networking nowadays :D
