:x

And today is nasty. Not a lot of snow, not too cold, but lots of blowing snow that makes visibility just shy of zero, and all the previous rain froze, so roads are very very icy.
Otherwise, weather is fine...

Is that normal for this time of year there?

Here things are starting to warm up again.

This is Nebraska, the unoffical state motto is 'Don't like the weather? Wait a minute, it'll change.' So there really isn't a 'normal' in reguards for the weather. But it is a bit late for the blizzard conditions most of the area has been having.
Freakishly, while we did have a bit of snow and lots of wind here, was comparitively tropical to the surrounding areas. Saterday had clear skies, and above freezing temps, while all around they were closing roads and canceling events because of the wind and snow.

Weather is at its worst in February here, so it should start warming up in the next weeks. We usually can take off wintercoats by mid april, but right now it's still snowing here, we got 6 inches, and apparently the wind factor will give us a nice -40 tomorrow... *shrug* It'll be over soon!

Heh, yesterday was tempted to leave my coat at home, sweatshirt was enough. Today is overcast, so the coat is good, though don't think is actually much colder out.
Spring can't be too far off, the birds are back, and the ants are staging their spring invasion.

Today the high was 10 deg C (which almost felt like spring if it weren't for the wind) and the low tonight is predicted to be 3 deg C.

I put out a bunch of ant traps a couple days ago. Ones that are supposed to wipe out the main hive. So far, havn't noticed much of a change.

You've got an ant infestation? I would have thought that it would have been too cold at this time of year?

Ants are still frozen in the earth here. The first brave flies to wake up usually don't appear until mid-april.

It's so ridiculously cold today, my car didn't start this morning. :x Annoying to say the least.

Apparently is warm enough here. I was vaugely susprised. Though live in an old house, so is possible the entire colony is indoor/under the foundation, were is a bit warmer.

Yep me. :)

I've never found anything fun to do with ants. While cool, they aren't the most entertaining things.

Supposedly, certain kinds taste spicy.... have never tested that out, and have no real plans of doing so.
But are a fairly decent motovation to vaccume properly.

I once, when I was a child, bit into an apple to find half an ant. Not a good feeling.

Yeah, that seldom goes over well. Had a kid in highschool who wouldn't eat red apples because of an incident involving half a worm. Green/yellow apples he could stand, but refused to eat red ones.

I carried on eating apples. I was just cautious about checking them first for holes.
