Not all.... pretty sure there's one or two that don't end in 'ville'.... pretty sure...

A lot of villages here start with "St-" or "Ste-". "Ville", comically, seems to be for some cities that were originally founded by anglophones, while it's a French word meaning "city". Funny.

I'm not sure about Hopskinsville. I've only been to Louisville. I think those were settled by the French long before the English decided to take it over.

I think berg is an entirely underrated city suffix. :)

I think there's a few too many words to say the same thing.

Indeed. French is even worse. As for the French colonies, it's true, although "Hopkins" isn't a very French-like name. :P

Languages are weird. Can be many ways to say one thing, but no word to say something else....

I think it's more that they're always in evolution; we have much more words than there was, in any language, 300 years ago... Our brains, feelings and thoughts are still too complicated to translate into words, that's why there aren't words for some things we're trying to say.

Without being able to break into people's mind, communicating through telepathy would take care of the vocabulary problem ;)

Don't predict me too much in the next weeks; my husband found a job in another town and we're moving in July. That means I have to take care of our son alone in the week (he'll be living over there...), plus my own job, and packing..... ergh.

Aye, telepathy would solve some problems, but most likely create others. Unless its' possible to tell a 'white lie' thru telepathy. A minon untruth that keeps the peace more then full honesty would.

Eh, weekends are slow regardless.

Congrats. How'd you do this semester, and what did you take? Or teach... forget who's on which side of things....

I'm still on the other side fighting the good fight. :)

Really well. I'm very pleased.

Anyway, Chicken Strips.

I'm sure the grease is going to harden my arteries and what not, but they are just so tasty with white gravy.

I had toast with them too if that helps.

....damn, now I'm hungry. Will have to pick up some chicken strips myself. Am just glad I actaully have some money. Finally got my tax return back. Not so much as I'd hoped, but far better then nothing.
(Filed early, but had some problems with my documentation.)

Eating a bagel and coffee here. Then again, it's only 630 in the morning, so chicken strips would probably not be a very good idea.

School year's end seems soooo far away...

We starts over in the last week of August, usually around August 23, 24. We have as many school days, though, 180 for the whole year in primary and secondary school. There are 20 "planification days" scattered over the school year, during which the students don't have school, but the teachers are working on planning, correcting, meeting, etc. ; and a few holidays, 2 weeks at Christmas, + our "Spring" break in March that doesn't include Easter like yours. Result : 5-day-weeks are actually rare, but I think the students (and teachers) would rather have more, and end sooner...

I'm a bit busy these days. I've met a lovely woman and she's a major part of my life. The upshot is that I don't have as much free time as I used to.
